For those who are experiencing a hi temperature in DMSS receiver, here is the answer as per JR.
Higher operating temperatures are normal characteristic of DMSS. The data rate is much higher than previous systems, and there is a lot more data being processed with the addition of telemetry data. Simply ensure that your receiver is not in direct sunlight (under a clear canopy) and is not situated close to the exhaust, although sometimes this is difficult to accomplish. The thermal cutoff for these receivers is very high…in fact high enough that plastic will melt before the receiver shuts off due to excess heat.
You should not have anything to worry about.

Here is my antenna placement in a sport jet converted from JR 10X with spektrum DSM2 TX module to JR XG14 DMSS. New Receiver is a JR RG1131BPU Power Buss Rx.
In the nose is the telemetry transmitter/receiver RA01TL Remote Antenna with coax antenna end pointing down. I have one RA01L with coax antenna end pointing forward and one RA01L with coax antenna end pointing to the right (in a U shaped tube).
First impressions are that the new system is very noticeably faster with same servos and surface throws. I noticed it most when doing 8 point rolls as it feels like there is no delay and movements are very crisp. It also feels more sensitive with the same measured throws and dual rates.

Thank you for posting those pictures, today I was flying my Electra and few time I had the no Link alarm beeping on my XG14, was very annoying because the plane feel solid with any loss of control ...anyway Idecide to land to be safe . I will have to arrange my antenna like you.
My receiver is the 11 Ch DMSS . Like you I feel my plane a bit more alive ( maybe its just my head!!)

Everyone I have corm across who as upgraded to even tried DMSS says the same thing! I tried it back to back (DMS2 then DMSS) in the same model and the difference was very noticeable!

Since there is no diversity for the transmitting antenna in the plane, I think its placement and orientation is more critical as there will be a direction with a weaker signal. The least obstructed location away from other equipment in my application is the nose, so I put the RA01TL in the Nose. I oriented the telemetry antenna vertically as I figured it is rare that I would fly a jet directly overhead. I'm not sure this is the optimal orientation in a jet, but so far so good. For a glider this is probably not the optimal orientation.?
The telemetry signal is not usually critical to aircraft safety, however, I wish JR would have a signal strength logger for each antenna to know how good each receiver antenna is performing.

I have a question for programming guru:
I just finish installing the gear in a 1/9 Skymaster F15 the receiver is the RG 1131BPU. The gear is pneumatic with
servo : #5
The 3 doors are on AUX: 3-4-5. Will be easy to buy a sequencer but maybe I can do mixing with this Radio?
any tips?

Its been a little wile since I had my XG14 but I used it for the doors sequencing on both my F16 and F15.
You simply allocate or mix the U/C and doors to the switch of chioce and use servo slow to delay them accordingly.
Its far more complicated if the doors had to shut after the gear was down like a L39 etc.
But that can be also done with out a sequencer on-board the airframe.
Glyn Dale managed it with an XG11 so im sure it could be done with the 14, see link below

Yes Mark , thank you , this will be my approach : I slave the door to the gear . And use servo speed to delay the retraction after the gear goes up+ some testing and reversing on the doors!
For down gear If the wheels goes down to fast and force the doors . I van always put a lair line restrictor to slow the speed!
More I use this radio , more i loved, the F15 is my 10 models in the memory . Will be nice if the see the RX at lower price.....

You can put a servo delay on the gear "down" also, that way the door will open a second or two before the gear pops out
From memory it was
Gear switch down, doors open with no delay then gear with 2 sec delay.
Gear switch up, Gear up with no delay then gear doors with a 5 sec delay.
Another good idea from Glyn in the link I gave earlier was to use a 3 pos switch for the gear as well as the delay.
This way you can open the doors only if you whish for access to the gear on the ground.
Doors on pos 1-2, gear on 2-3. If you flick straight through from 1 - 3 its no different from using a 2 pos switch.
In flight it gives you the chance if you whish to see that the gears away before shutting the doors.

Neither was I to start with, but you don;t need to set the "just doors open" position. I didn;t on mine. and regardless, In an emergency I flick that switch pretty fast to get it all the way to the extended position!

I think some info missing here is that the DMSS is heading into the future,(which DSMX will not take you). The current line of TX's are nice radios. I have the XG14 and have competed with it already and can tell you first hand, it is extremely precise compared to my older dsm, dsm2 and dsmx on my JR12X.
The flagship TX from JR will be the 28X. Due to release this fall. It will use software that no Spektrum, Airtronics or Futaba TX currently has, and if they all want to keep up, you will probably see a change coming from their camps as well. To say this is the end of JR is nothing more than an uninformed opinion. JR is setting the stage for what these TX's will be capable of. I can say this, I had 20 or so planes all RTF with Spektrum Rxs. I sold them on RCU in 2 weeks and made close to $800. That easily funded my change over to DMSS. Right now Spektrum is still popular in the sport area of RC, so these rx's are an easy sell. Who knows what the future will hold for current technology that is already becoming outdated. I am not bashing any other brands, just stating the missed facts that soon, technology will give way to what DMSS is already offering.

I have a programming question folks. I'm still new to this radio and some really simple programming seems a bit unclear to me. How do you program flaps and ailerons and which four channels do I use? Is the wing type setting to normal and 4 ailerons? Sorry, just a bit confusing. My receiver is 11ch RG1131BPU.

For ailerons and separate flaps the wing type is normal.
Wing: Normal
Tail: Normal
If you have 2 aileron servos and 2 flap servos, go in the DUAL section below on wing type page.
For me I used AILE(RAIL), GEAR(LAIL), PIT.(RFLP), AUX2(LFLP)

You can see the results using MONITOR in the function list
It will now show RAIL, LAIL, RFLP, LFLP in the correct channel order
