I'm using the xicoy valves with adaptors. It would obviously be better to have 2mm barbs, not sure if any are available?

email Patty at BVM. I didn't see the link. I got this plane second hand and they were already installed. It looks like a gray (standard) festo reducer.

You can use a Jetlegend 2 - 3mm adaptor for this purpose or replace the nipples on the valves with the 2mm version (assuming a 3mm thread).

Hi
The simplest way to integrate the 2mm airline used in JL airframes for use with any of the usual E-Valves is to use JLs own adaptors or swap out 3mm nipples for JLs 2mm nipples.

On my Yak builds both 1/5 and 1/4 I have I opted to run 3mm line upstream of the 2x5 way manifolds that are used for the main UC and doors and from the 4x3 way manafolds feeding the front UC and doors as shown in the pic below.

When removing the 2mm nipples from the JL manifolds or adaptors be sure to heat up the thread lock-sealant JL use with a heat gun or you will simply tear up the thread and nipple in the process!

Have you flown your 1/4 scale Mark? Love to see final build pics. I had to send a turbine in for a check-up, or I'd be done by now.

I am just finishing my Yak 130.. Does anyone know where the normal or center of the elevator is on the Fuselage. I could use a picture or a reference point on the fuselage Thanks Russ

Russ, I was told right along the paint line.... I have a word doc on a bunch of stuff for set up, I'll try to post it

here it is, not sure who sent this to me, may have been Mark Hinton???

YAK STUFF

Ok been in the workshop tonight and put her together to get the control throws.
this is my preference as I like a positive feel on the controls when I fly but on the rate settings It is a bit more slow and sedate.
Rudder 20mm each way measured at the top of the rudder.
Elevator full rate 50mm up and down ( needs this when taking off on grass) low rate 30mm each way measured at the back of the elevator against the fuz.
aileron full rate 40mm down 30mm up as the hinges will not allow any more. Low rate 20mm both ways measured inboard near flap.
flap is as much as the hinge guides will only allow when they slide out.
I am running a 200sx jetcat in mine. Me and Mark H built them as a pair and where identical in the install.
we moved our fuel tanks back and changed the tanks to a two tank system and put them on the c&g as near as possible. We carry about 6.5 litres and I get times of around 7 mins but their is not a lot of fuel left in reserve.
the undercarriage is fantastic but be aware that it can recoil and throw you back into the air if you get it wrong and touch down a bit fast.
approach is fun. Their is no real change in pitch as such with the flaps down so no mixing required. The air brake on top is fantastic but you will need to approach on half power or more with every thing out in the breeze as the drag is high. Once lined up chop the power and flair, it will be like some one has grabbed the plane fom behind and it should touch down at a slow speed just wait for it to come to you, don't force it down.
if flying in a cross wide watch the nose as it will weather cock in to wind just before touch down, I have been known to land with half flap when it is like this as touch down speed is a bit higher.
I have the ordnance but to be honest I only put it on for static. I fly with the missiles on the wing tips but nothing else as I feel the drag would unbelievable. The missiles, drop tanks and missile launchers are huge.

Ditto the above - also I moved my CG 50mm back from the factory position and it was still nose heavy! I flew mine with a Merlin M200XBL and it was draggy but handled beautifully.

Hi,
Yes I have them (though you can split the adaptors into 2mm and 3mm nipples). Personally I would install the 2mm nipples into the body of the valve, assuming 3mm thread, as this reduces the breaks in the air tube.
Drop me an email to [email protected] with what you need...

No it locks but there is no spring action on the strut you can push the wheel up and down and there is force to hold the plane up.. Thanks Russ

Russ, pretty sure the cylinder is oil or air filled and yours is empty. Mine recoils like a gas filled shock. Not sure how to fill it.

Guys,

Can you share recommendations on CG and control throws for the big (1:4) YAK 130 please?
also we find the shock absorbing in the struts is too weak, the sprins compress all the way even without fuel - anyone changed springs and can recommend a replacement set?

thanks.

I had the privelage to completely setup and test fly Tal Levi's Jetlegend 1/4 YAK-130, powered by TWIN Jetcat P-140RXI and Futaba 18MZ, in ein Yahav, Israel.
The bird took a bit of work to get right, and a couple of emergencies on first 2 flights, but after that we really enjoyed flying this beautiful aircraft with the ordinance.
Next is take care of the gear door problems, and add some weathering, and we should be in the sweet spot.
Good job Tal for building this massive aircraft!

Hi All,

I have just received a Yak 130 to build for a friend, its the single turbine version but doesn't appear to have much room from the mount to the wing tube to fit the P300. Can somebody please provide some single turbine install pics for reference,

thanks

Hi,
From the existing CG go back 50mm. My own YAK was still slightly nose heavy at that but it felt fine to me. I am informed that it will go back as far as 100mm from the factory position but I didn't bother.

Cheers

Jeff
