Fastest acceleration
Wich engine between thoose 3 had the fastest acceleration?
P160

And if possible to have a number of secs?
Reason for asking is i have a true P160 from Germany and i want to upgrade the
acceleration to a SX but it may be more cost effective to resell this one and buy a new engine....

I think it's a legitimate question...if outside of hard numbers. The perceived throttle up time amongst the aforementioned turbines is what's important to those (I count myself) who may on short final with too little energy. A subjective account is reasonable...

I think truthfully that with today's engines they are all comparable in acceleration and deceleration. The truth of the matter is, the sppol time from idle to full throttle isn't as big of a factor anymore than one might think simply because in flight we are rarely going back to a full idle. The throttle from 25% to full power has a much faster spool time. With most jets outside of the trainer realm, even landings are carried out at around 25% throttle up until just moments before touchdown. So on a final where you have botched up your approach you will hopefully be either a) flying a jet that will stay airborne at little airspeed or b) flying a jet where you still have power on and the acceleration will be fast anyway.
Picking a turbine based on the "what if I screw up on final" is the wrong way to pick one. As I say, the throttle lag or these days, lack of throttle lag, is minimal. Not like the days of 10second spool times. Between the three engines you listed, I have not owned any of them, if I were to consider one, I would base it more on weight, size, and thrust. All those being equal, I would base it on real world experiences of what engine has had the most success (don't get ducked into lifetime warranty promises, it's always better to have an engine that doesn't need warranty than one that promises a lifetime one). If all that is equal, then I would look at price.
The acceleration difference is so subtle now days that it's really become a moot point now. Turbines manufactures used to advertise their spool time, but like I say, it's so minimal and seemingly equal these days, there is no point.
Based on everything I have said, my only real choice between the three engines listed would be the kingtech simply because the size and power are right, I hear very very little bad about the engines, including very few threads about how great customer service is because something failed (to clarify, there aren't that many threads about it because it seems there aren't that many failures) and when service ks needed Barry is excellent to deal with. On top of that, the price is great too!

The P160 that i have, i have a time to make a coffe from idle to full thrust..... In comparaison, my Cheetah is almost instant, or 2.5 seconds....
I was wondering if all new engine are faster accel than P160 or is just as they are bigger, they accel slower....

I fly off a 70 yd tarmac strip. The overrun at either ends is clear, once airborne, but undercarriage destroying if you over run. I seem to keep Bob Violett in business with the amount of flexplates Ive gone through.
I was using a 2006 wren supersport ( 18lb thrust) with a spool up time of 5-6 seconds.
If the bobcat lands at 30mph, that is 13 metres second that its travelling at.
If i don't touch down exactly where i want to and float, and make the decision to go around after 2 seconds, ive already used up just under half my runway. By the time ive firewalled the throttle and attained full thrust, Im off the end of the runway and on the rough stuff. If im lucky im already airborne again.
In contrast, since i got a jetcat p100, if i need to go around, i can be confident that the slightly faster acceleration time and slightly higher thrust means that if i float for 2 seconds, travel 26metres, then firewall the throttle, by the time ive reached the end of the tarmac, i have full thrust and am able to climb away.
I can't guarantee that with a slower spooling engine.
It becomes apples vs oranges, if i describe the GA performance and spool up time of a mates P160SX equipped Bobcat, given if his spool up is under 4s, just after half that time, he has to same thrust available as I do after 4 seconds!

I think the fastest acceleration is achieved by the engine with the highest avarage efficiancy, given the electronics permit the engine to go full out. A look at the RCJI test might give a clue. As LGM Graphix also says... even if you choose the fastest accelerating one, from idle it will take forever before it prodives power in an emergency :-)

It depends on what generation of P160 you are talking about though, the first generation P160 wasn't that great of an engine on a lot of points from what I recall. But then none of the first generation Jetcats were fast spool time, in all fairness, back in those days, none of them were fast with the exception of AMT. If you are to compare a P160 with a Cheetah which is a newer generation engine, you need to make sure you compare the same generation P160 (ie an SX) or it's really not a fair comparison.
It would be like comparing a RAM1000 to a new generation turbine, you can't make that comparison.
I assumed you were asking about all current generation engines for a new purchase. Jetcats of 10 years ago do not even compare to Jetcats of today, like most everything, they have improved in leaps and bounds.

Behotec 180 Gold accelerates brutally fast, its faster than a k-170G or a K-180G by 1 second form about 60,000 rpm to 120,000 rpm.
Jet cat 180rx is also very fast.

Why are there 18 post ( 19 now including me ) in this thread and on the post summary column it says 17 and if you click the 17 (18 now with me ) in the summary column there are 24 (25 now with me ) different people that have posted here???? Some of the 24 listed are not even shown in the thread. IE: Dieselman... He DID post here and it is not even shown....***... Over ????
