Default RE: SM F104 build

I remember having a conversation with Ali re the turbine height at the time and it was decided to go with Roland's suggestion as there were very few people with any experience with the SM104. Perhaps if Al lets me change it around he can do a direct comparison but I doubt he'll want the hassle. I still need to tidy a few things up internally after the trouble shooting with the turbines.

Cheers, Alex

This video should round the thread off nicely. This was taken by Dominic M at a UK event yesterday. Ali's Skymaster F104 Starfighter that I built in April. You can look at the full photo build album on my FB page it keeps all the photos in one place which are easily accessible.

and the video...

Very sadly This Starfighter was lost on Saturday at the BMFA Nationals in the UK. By the look of the crash it was a total loss. Thoughts are that one of the leading edge slats on the wing came loose/free. Very sad indeed as this was a lovely plane and Ali flew it so well

Wow. How good news travels fast. RCU...Almost faster than BBC news. No way near as fast as the UK jet gossip mill however!
Yes Roland, My F-104 was fitted with the new slat updates.

Ali, I am very sorry to hear about the F-104. It was a gorgeous model and from the videos it was clear you flew it incredibly well.

I have to say that after the sad loss of the star fighter Ali carried on running/organising the showline at the UK NATs in a very professional way and also did many other excellent flights in a variety of aircraft. My particular favourite (although not a jet) was his formation flying with the Hanger 9 Super Decathlons. Mind you they do like to bounce a bit on landing

Mmmmmhhhhhhh, so it might not be time to buy one just yet??? The customer R&D on this model is still ongoing.

Please keep the updates coming, eventually everything will be sorted.

Ali, sorry about your loss mate.

Cheers,

Jan

Jet Flyer3000 just what I was going to say. True profesionalism after a gut wrenching event, even for me just watching. What Ali felt like - well.... But he picked up the batton and carried on.
The flight of the weekend was watching the Lightning fly. Thanks Ali and sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys. I have to admit, standing out there on the flight line watching the wreckage burn, I did think of just jacking it all in and going home. Actually keeping busy on the showline was a blessing as it took my mind off the crash.
Glad you liked the EEL flight. I was a tad nervous to say the least.... Now hurry up and get yours finished!
Regards Al

"Ali", I am such a deep admirer of the F-104. I am terribly sorry for your loss. Hopefully, one day I will acquire the skills to build and fly an F-104. I closely followed your F-104's build. Hope to meet you one day maybe at Kentucky Jets. I know you are a true professional and they always rebound even stronger. Chic

God speed to her Ali! If you don't mind posting pictures of the corpse, we would all love to have a look at her in pieces!

Morne',

Are you going to share the analysis of your near fatal flight at the WJM 2013 with us?

Cheers,
