JMP Firebird and 10 min flights? - YES !!
Hi guys,
Just prepared my JMP Firebird for the upcoming season.
Always wanted some more endurance to make those rather rare outings of my Bird more worthwhile !
Together with Gary Mueller (www.jettechusa.com), I customised another of his fuel cells to suit under Firebird`s top hatch. In fact, this new tank
has exactly the same dimensions and mounting points as the previously installed smoketank.
Now, I can swap between the two tanks ( or say between endurance or show ) !!
see you
Hans

Hi,
Forgot to mention - total fuel capacity is 7 Liters ( 240 ounces ) of jet A1 !
Additional tank is almost CG- neutral and the whole suction side is equiped with Tom`s and Gary`s ultra high flow fittings and
and large high crossection tygon tubing.
My AMT Olympus will take around 900ml/min ( 31 oz/min ) fuel at max RPM (112500 ) and deliver some 26kg (57 pounds) of thrust !
The last picture shows the spray nozzles of my smoke tubes ( 4mm stainless steel ) which are guided to the tail inbetween the the thrust tube's innner
and outer walls to preheat the smoke fluid - smoke generation is just perfect !
