Default large SM Hawk Struts leaking

Hi all, I need some help!
My SM Large Hawk has developed a leak. I am wondering what to do now.
I know I need to figure out how much oil is missing and also need to find the "same" oil ideally.

I am expecting that if it is leaking that I also need to know how to take it apart and would like to have the proper replacement O ring before I start this project....

Can anyone direct me on the process, the O ring source and size and the oil?

Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave:
Please send me your address for shipping oil seals to you. The oil in the struts is ATF (automatic transmission fluid), you can find it in auto parts store easily.
Best regards

When my SM struts in my F-4 started leaking and then they wouldn't stay extended, I just put springs in them.

Hi

If you can, keep the pneumatic/hidraulic gear. It is much smother and with better dampening than springs.

Sometimes it works better to have orings with the upper size (with more 0,1mm or so), to provide a better leak proof.

Nice service from Likai.

Viton O-rings are designed for high mechanical stress and high temperatures. Maybe they can work longer without leak.

Best regards

Nuno
