Default Rookie II Landing Gear

Hello all. I have the Pro-Link gear for my Rookie II. Just wondering if anyone makes a retro-Fit for runni g a stearing servo on the gear itself like Jet Ledg does some of theirs? Trying to keep the pull pull wires out of the way when retracting is a hassle. I've tried the big shrink wrapped wire tie method and that's a no go for this airframe. If there's no inline servo kit, may have to try the rubber band deal next.

Hello:

Why you not install the servo in the nose retract, is best system that pull-pull.

Hello Carlos. That setup thats in your photo is spot on what I'm wanting to do. I just wanted to see if they made a kit for my Pro-links before I turn on my milling machine. Ha. Your way is the way I have my JL CT-114. Love it.

We have a "Direct Steer" system in the works to fit the Pro-Link Taurus retract. Simple system similar to the method used on the Aurora and Electron gear. Should be out shortly... We are also considering a gear mounted servo type system if there is enough demand?

On the rookie I just glued two 1 1/2" long lengths of 1/8" tube to the wood structure around the knuckle in the leg with the gear retracted, thread the steering wires through that and you are fine.

I've been making my own direct steering brackets for Pro-Link Taurus & Hercules gear for a couple years. Just a piece of aluminum angle, cut, drilled, tapped and a bushing JB welded in place.A little crude being cut with a hack-saw and overbuilt, but theyfit both size retracts. Here's a few pics...

Scott. That great the way you have that set up. The only prob is, with my retracts, the Cyl is in the rear and in the way. Unless I can reverse that on these Taurus to the front. Will have to see about that. Thanks for all the photos.

Yes you do have to reverse the retract for the steering bracket to swing.

My design is overkill with the front angle bolting on. Ionly made it that way becauseIdidn't trust just JB welding a bushing in place. If it broke loose all steering would belost.

Behotec makes a one piece CNC'd bracketwith servooffsetbut not 1/2" OD. Simple design held in place by just the trunion being tight on the bushing.

Iwish Todd or someone made asimilar designwith 1/2" ODbushing as a one piece unit - Ithink would be a great seller.

Ok guys. I know we all over power. Over thrust and over everything on our jets. With that said, is there any dougbt with you Rookie or Hotspot flyers that a JR-3421 servo on 6.2 volts will be enough for the steering on this bird?

Scott, I have measured. Fitting and everything else and I just don't think a standard size servo will work in a direct system like you are showing in my bird. It would show to much servo down close to the tire to use a mou t like i want to. I might can shoehorn a 3421 in there but, my canard mount is just right in the way when its retracted. Whats ya think?
