Craig, you guys do seem to have a blast flying them, I'll admit. Tons of room inside makes for an easy install, too. And no gear doors is a big plus.
Problem is, I'm just not quite sure if I'm ready yet to go that bulbous!

Hey Randy, if you're going to go ''bulbous'', why not go all the way and get a 1.9m Futura? They're really light and fly great. They even have a painted in the mold option now. Plus, no gear doors! Just what you need.

That's certainly an option, as well. In fact, another buddy had suggested a Bandit.
The 63" BVM F-86 also looks like a good choice for a military scale jet in the size/power range that I'm looking for. There was a very nice one posted in the classifieds last week, and it went in a hurry. No surprise...it looked like a sweet jet!
Again, thanks for the discussion and suggestions here, gents!

Anyone out there have any experience with the new 1:7 L-39 from FEJ? Website says: "All new high light material - honeycomb core,
carbon fiber material on complete model with vacuum bags to be super light and super strong", and specs a weight of 15 to 19 lbs.
I could only find one thread where a guy had started one of these, but it's been cold for a while. In that same build thread there was talk of having to do a lot of work on the older version, things like re-hinging the flaps, replacing the ply formers, etc. Just wondering if this "new" version is better.

RE: Any quality
Randy,
I have a FB L-39 from Global Jet Club. It's weight is 19 lbs dry ( UAT full) and powered by a Jet Cat P 100. It is indeed a rocket. Half throttle and it fly very nice, Slow handling is great. Push the throttle and it gets very small very fast. I have never put the radar gun to it but there is no doubt it will hit oru speed limit. Personally, I believe it would fly fine on a P-60. I also wanted a small jet that I could haul intact. I measured the door width of my trailer before ordering lol and it will fit with about 2 inches of clearance, so it has never been apart since I assembled it. I did change out the 60 oz tank for a 80 oz and 20 oz aux tank. Flight times are very good with plenty of reserve.[img][/img] I have not flown it much but I think it is a keeper. Photo was shot at Georgia Jets last fall. Feel free to pm me if you have questions.

RE: Any quality
I've been flying the FB L-39 for the 4th season coming up.
I enjoy this jet very much as it has no bad habits. It looks cool in the air and on final is easy to line up and flair for a landing.
I did have issues with the gear cylinders leaking but replaced them with Robarts and that was that.
It flies great with a K-80.

LOL...well one day perhaps an F-14 will be in my hangar! I look forward to seeing the SM version.
Keep that scan going for the landings: from the start to in the middle, meatball/line-up/angle-of-attack; when in close, meatball/line-up; then at the ramp, ball/ball/ball.....and you'll do fine!
