DerJet Hunter here!

Thank you very much David. In the pics I have downloaded from walkarounds it seem that the wings are flat at bottom, more or less.
Are the airfoils traced in your fullsize drawings? If so, could you send it to me?

I'm not sure how others secured their canopy. I don't like the looks of a canopy screwed down and I wanted axis to the front. So I decided to make a quick release latch that was operated from the back hatch. I have it spring loaded with a small spring and a wheel collar. I mounted a cross brace onto the canopy frame to accept the locking pin. this cross brace also secures the cockpit tub.

(of the 5 Hunter books I do have no less than 4 show the LE extension incorrectly.
The lower surface of the LE extension is just about flat.
David.

I have checked and the sections are 9.5 percent Hawker symetrical sections at both tip and root. I have not found a source of the actual plots. The wing section at the point of the leading edge extensions is gently curved and not flat.

Joe, to bad you had to leave before the last flight. The last adjustments on the gear were a success and I was able to put a clean flight on the Hunter. I also worked out the take off issue I had last Wednesday during the first two flights.
The Hunter flew great with the gear retracted.

No Ripmax ones are like the DJ and taper to the tip. Although its based on the MR model, the Ripmax model is very different right from undercarriage positioning to incidences, the Ripmax versions I have flown (4) all fly better than the MR examples.
I expect my DJ model to fly well too.

Thanks for your time and lovely chat during my recent visit to the UK. Here are pics of mine in Singapore colours, replicating the one at the Air Force museum here. Just unboxed, sorry about what's keeping the nose down....
Cheers!

It was good to meet you. Looks great in a different scheme. I have been "picked" on recently and need to get on with mine-possibly in time for JP 2014!
I've been digging out the bits that seem to have been spread around my workshop! My early kit needs a few things sorting out first, I'll see how the next week or so goes
Best Regards
Dave

I thought so too. I am considering swapping the air cylinders on my Hunter retracts with electric actuators; in other words electric conversion of the stock units. Any advise is much appreciated!

My new Der Jet Hunter.
Will get a bit more action going with the next video
This was the demo model that Eric Clapp @ Jet Central USA was showing at Kentucky Jets a few months back.

And you are right of course it is much sleeker with the gear up. Checked every thing after landing and found the the electric gear valve wasn't shifting because my pit buddy had filled the air-tank up to 170PSI!! . As soon as we relieved the pressure back to 125PSI everything was good and the valve started shifting again.
I have several sport jets but this is my first military scale jet and I couldn't be more happy with my choice with the Der Jet Hunter.
Take care!

I’m putting the final touches to my DerJet Hunter and I have a question regarding the sliding canopy.I have asked both the US dealer I purchased it from and also direct to DerJet but have not yet received a response from either of them.
There was no hardware supplied to install the sliding canopy, and I can’t work out how it was intended to be attached. It has the slots in both the canopy and cockpit sill area plus a hole at the aft end of each side of the canopy frame which seems to imply some sort of retention/ sliding mechanism, but as I mentioned, no mounting hardware was supplied.
Can anyone please provide pictures/ instructions as to how to attach the sliding canopy and details of any potentially missing hardware.
Many thanks
Paul

Although the fuselage was moulded to allow it to slide, DerJet did not supply anything, many people don't want the work involved. Most will use 2 pins and a hatch catch.
If you want it to slide you need some square tube and a way of cutting a slot

As the weather improves here we are starting to get some flying in. Test flew this Miss D Hunter yesterday, JetCat P-140Rxi and JR gear thoughout (DMSS 28X) iGyro 3e
Other than a slightly soft nose spring allowing a negative sit and slight 'launch' on take off it flew really well, better still when I started to introduce the gyro. Typical Hunter with a smallish tail is 'floats' in medium speed flight, adding the gyro sorts this.
Super model assembled by Steve E for owner Matt Smailes.
There are more pictures on the JMA Long Marston thread.

Have now got 5 flights on my new DJ Hunter. Merlin 140XBL, Jeti CB400 and Cortex. Very impressed so far.
First flight was a handful as I'd inadvertently got the cg 1" aft of the aft limit (check, and re-check before first flight!), but once corrected she flies like a dream. Agree with Dave on the 'launch' at rotation, so I have fitted a piece of Tygon fuel tube inside the nose gear spring to see if that helps.
Scale pitot probe courtesy of Alan (Fireblade5437).
Regarding the sliding canopy from a few posts previous - I finally worked out the attachment method using 4 M2 socket cap screws. It allows a manual sliding of the canopy if wanted, and hold it firmly closed with the rear screws nipped up tight.
Looking forward to more flights soon.

Exactly what I told Matt to do! Will help for sure.
