Ash,

What are your thoughts on the kit? How's the fit and finish? Was the internal construction clean (clean fillets on formers, quality wood, etc.)? I've built some skymaster stuff but never any of the extreme jets kits. You have any other pics?

There are some bugs.As far as the glass work it seems ok.On mine the rear fuse where the tail cone goes on there has about a 1/4 inch gap and all I got was an apology that the builder had a few mess ups that they were not or were noticed during QC.The thrust tube did not fit or tail cone was for another model as it did not fit the fuse right but there sending me parts to make it work? so I just let it go.It looks flyable so nothing major other than that. But then I just spent over 3 grand so I wont lie it does bother me.The hard ware is use less seems like im missing parts I am doing more work looking threw my scrap yard to make things work. The elevators have about a half inch gap which they supplied 3 washers that did not even come close to holding the elevators in.I would not call this an arf Feels like they sent me a painted prototype and it was done 4 months before the lg came in so there was plenty of time to get things right. The mould is good everything is square and all the major glassed parts fit good besides the tail cone just a lot of little things. In the end it will be fine but im not happy with with them.Im just not seeing 3 grand of quality but I do like it just a little more time and money to finish it.Sky master wont even share this model on there fb it they doesn't say anything.Well when mine is done lol.

Every time I start to buy a SM jet I read another thread like this. I don't want to spend my money on shoddy products. It is a shame they have nice looking airframes with nice paint and non exisistent engineering and quality control.

To your point, I think they do treat their Xtreme line differently, with lower priority. They tend to focus more on the QC of the newer line models like the 1/5 F-16 and their large F-104.
My last small F-16 I almost had to pressure wash it internally, as it had tons of crap inside, and the fit of the gear doors was very poor. Still a bang for the buck though. They do fly good and are structurally sound.

In my opinion I'd spent a few $100 more and just go for their 1/6 scale F-16. It should fit wherever the 1/6.75 does, and it's a proven airframe.....or wait until the 1/6.75 is significantly discounted.

I am thinking of this plane so I am not thrilled to read this. And, I would argue that the 1/6 is not just a few 100 bucks more either. More like almost double the price once you add LG and other things that the 1/6.75 comes with.

Shame. My last jet was a FB Dolphin. At roughly they same price point I got without a doubt the nicest ARF I have ever seen. Everything was perfect!

Last quote I got was around $3600 shipped for a 1/6th, basic two tone gray no cockpit nor ordnance…they had a deal for a cockpit for $100 or so, but I don’t care that much about SM cockpits. The the 1/6.75 was about $3K shipped, simlarily equipped but with a cockpit. Hell they even have a deal for the 1/5[SUP]th[/SUP] for $3000 + freight for a couple of factory demo kits.

The 1/5[SUP]th[/SUP] it states Factory Pro ARF Plus, I think that’s the option with all that stuff in there.

For as much money I pute into this one I should of got the 1/6 but I have to much invested in this one not to finish.Ive had 3 days off work so I have been hard at it.I did not meen to discourage you guys but as far as mine goes its minor things but the tail cone is going to need some type of filling not sure how I am going to go about it and still have it look authentic. If any one does buy it just be up front have them send pics with it assembled so if you spot a problem have them fix it before it ships.Make sure they show the aft end with tail cone attached as well and just expect to use your own hardware.

Man I was hoping to hear it was an awesome kit. I've been thinking this would be the perfect sized f-16. I was thinking hard about ordering one but I will wait until they get the quality up on it. The fact that they admit that the builder screwed up and won't fix it is enough of a reason for me to stick with other brands.

Hey guys if you want to compare apples to apples the pricing is on their site, you just need to do some adding up to figure it out. The 1/6.75 is $2970, the 1/6 is $4850 and the 1/5 is $6430 (all thunderbirds scheme) so not just a few hundred difference. All three prices include the jet, landing gear, kevlar tanks, tail pipe, hardware, air kit, door cylinders, cockpit and that's it (prices don't include any options shown on their site unless it says included). Shipping is extra and goes up exponentially with size as well as options available. Turbine and radio gear/electronics prices goes up as well with size. I chose the 1/6.75 because of size and hopefully decent quality in my eyes when I receive it, definitely excited about it.

Thanks for the leg work Mike. Definetly the 1/6.75 is ideal for me both size and price wise.

No problem bparro, I was comparing a while back but even if pricing was closer I'd still have gone with the 1/6.75 due to size. I too would like to see more pics.

I was quoted much less with the 1/6th, reason I never considered the 1/6.75. And it was ~$750 more less a few things I left out. And the 1/5th is on sale for the $3095 ARF Plus which as per advertisement should include gear (if you can live with the color option they offer) http://jets.chiefaircraft.com/skymas...-in-stock.html

States clearly when you go to the 1/5 f-16 page airframe only on Chiefs site. Easily catches the eye on main page but that quickly changes when you add everything up! Just takes a few seconds or clicks to realize it's $3095 for airframe only. Same might be true for the quote you got, all depends what was in the quote and if we are comparing identical packages. The 1/6.75 comes with gear, Kevlar tanks, pipe, air kit, hardware, cockpit and cylinders.

Maybe the prices have come down but I got a quote on the 1/6 a couple years back. $6200 shipped to my door. That had all the options minus the ordinance.

Might be more now for the whole package, all prices are on the 1/6 page on cheifs site. Easy to figure a total there just not sure on shipping if that is extra and what amount, I'm assuming there is a shipping cost too.
