So to all the guys in this thread who have this jet, would you get it again after all or any of the issues you've experienced? I assume some if not all the problems with the release of the V2 landing gear have been resolved? Really interested in this F-16 but it seems that with some of the initial teething problems and not taking orders for a period of time due to the gear issues, there just isn't much info out there. Thanks.

The jet itself, as per most aircraft SM design and Anton's test fly, is very nice to fly.
I'm on the G1 landing gear still (to which I've modified for strength) as SM wanted to charge me significant costs to upgrade to G2. (When they know the G1 gear is rubbish)
This response regarding the Gear did taint my level of respect for SM a little.
If you have some building skill and prepared to put the effort in to get this Jet strengthened in the right places, Its worth it in the end.
My F16 is one of the nicest I've flown and attracts positive comment everytime it flies.

Yes you would think they upgrade would be free of charge but they mentioned the cost for them to upgrade is significant and they cant carry the cost.
I spent close to $150usd at a machine shop upgrading my G1 gear. While this is still significantly cheaper than the quoted price for the G2 gear, it was disappointing I needed to outlay the funds at all.
Saying that, so far so good, the Jet and gear are holding up well.

If you are thinking about buying a 1/6.75 (or a 1/6th) from SM, I would put a hold to it. FEJ has started deliveries of their 1/6 F-16 with new gear, so first impressions and reviews will start popping out soon. The FEJ 1/6th costs less than SM 1/6.75 shipped to your door, and has a nicer overall scale appearance. I know, I know, it's FEJ, but keep in mind that the airframe was never an issue on this one, it was the landing gear.....so we should find out soon how well the new gear holds up. And when it comes to customer service, at least you know what to expect from them, vs being shocked by SM charging prime for upgrading their known defects.
Sorry guys. I call it by how I see it.

I did, but the landing gear took so long to make that by the time it was ready for shipment I had spent the money elsewhere and declined the order. They did not require a deposit so it was basically a sign up sheet.
I'm also skeptic about the new LG design and how it requires an individual valve for locking/unlocking. Not convinced. Want to see how it turns out first.

wow ! LOL how did we end up here? I found that my G2 version of the SM 1/6.75 gear is built very well. heck i think it can hold up to my landings :-) . it looks very robust and the plane itself is pretty darn light. So i don't think it's a fair comparison to the older version(s). i guess you have to see it in real time to make a fair comparison ,WB_1

Listen, I went to that FEJ website and I was not encouraged. Think I am going back to the made in USA BVM F-16 X-TREME. I read the BVM website statement again, "buy cheap, buy twice". I will pay the extra $600 shipping. I am encouraged by the "BVM Success packs", I don't want to violate any club rules.

You want an F-16 made in the US? Call Lockheed Martin, soon to open in Greenville, SC, but Im afraid not even that one is 100% US made, more like 50%.
