So, looks like I might be one of the first of the kids on the block to get one. She is sitting at customs and should be in her new home this weekend. Kingtech 210 power and vectored thrust. iGyro Royal with Jr servos throughout.

need to get the little sister finished first. I am liking the Sebart stuff!

Had a chance to pick up the XXL frorm Kev-o yesterday. It is a solid, well designed airframe, all surfaces have a single wire hinge which I like. The canopy deck is massive and the entire plane can be easily worked on.
Get them to do the door install, mine was well done, clean and bind free. There is some minor clean up, filing and trimming that needs to be done but overall the aircraft is of good value. The external paint quality is also of good value considering the small upcharge but expect some minor blemishes, dents. Keep in mind this is one big plane and you will get more dents just moving it around...:^)
The pipe is exceptionally well made - dare I say, better than TAM and the vectored thrust nozzle is as well.

So...is it worth it?? The finish is not quite as good as CARF but this is externally painted and can be easily repaired if needed. Is it as good as a BVM Ultra Bandit. No...but at 1/2 the price the Avanti XXL is a serious contender in the big sport jet market.
Would I buy another...YES but an all white version where I control the quality of the paint application.
I have a couple of other smaller projects to complete then I'll tackle the big girl with first flights expected soon...as there is not much to do!

Cheers

My Avanti is nearly here .
I am going to use I gyro from powerbox on this jet .
It will have thrust vectoring .
Has anyone had experience with igyro on this type of plane ?
I haven't setup an I gyro before .
There is talk on delta wing setups but it would be intreasting to read about setups with the same wing setup as the Avanti .
I will be using the srs powerbox as well .
Can anyone help ? Cheers

My good friend Ian was all set to go on his maiden and was very disappointed to say the least.

http://youtu.be/m4h0eTG8Xz4

Will be in contact with Skymaster about bonding issues of canopy installation in due course.

Please reglue your canopy glass . When I returned home the canopy glass pushed out with my fingers braking it away easy .
I am in Australia and spare glass isn't at the corner shop !
Had to use half a viper jet screen and half the avanti screen .
I can no longer use the pilot tubs and my pilot , my glass is now black .

Looks like a suction problem. Does the engine have a bypass? If so, is it installed properly?

For the bigger engines, Seba recommends cutting holes in the fuselage wheel wells to feed more air to the big engines. Believe it's a mod he has recommended Anton do at the factory.

Thanks for the heads, I'm going to do like my others and drill a few small holes along the area the glue contacts the frame. Gives more of a bite.

Yeah after seeing the video that looks like a suction issue, thats a big canopy. SM may have to make a thicker clear canopy.

Schroe where would u cut holes? I would think either putting a wall just forward of the fuel tanks or a better option running a bypass, but if with larger turbine the ability to get air in due to small inlets could cause some issues. What size turbine is in this Avanti?

Did it actually break or just come unglued? Just trying to understand what happened as it seems that if it pushed out easily, it probably wouldn't have been damaged.
If it was damaged, I would repair it well enough to fly but would also contact Skymaster and request a replacement so I could make a proper, permanent repair. I would think
they should provide the replacement under warranty.

Fender

remove the tops of the wheel wells. Leave about 1/4" all round. So you can see the wheels from inside the fuse when they're up. That make sense?

Sure does, thanks for the info I will be running 50+ lbs of thrust in mine so we see how it goes.
