i noticed on the website they show plastic ones in the linkage kit. Anton can you confirm which are the right ends?

Mine has plastic ones as well.

Anyone have details on fitting of the vector nozzle? Pics on the skymaster website show a completely different nozzle to what I was supplied and the metal mounting brackets won't locate on the holes as predrilled in the rear former. The nozzle also looks like it won't fit inside the tailpipe with enough space to move either as the diameter is not much less than the tailpipe. The lack of instructions in this area really don't help the cause here.

The bottom of the rudder jams on the fuselage when the fin is pushed down and obviously affects the rudder movement. I had to remove around 1mm from the bottom of the rudder to get a reasonable amount of free movement.

Anyone got any ideas as to mounting the wing fences. they are huge, and will be prone to getting bumped etc, permanently glueing them does not seem like a good option

I will take a look at mine today, I asked some simple questionsbut still have not gotten any answers. l asked Anton about the diameter of the standard pipe since mine was rather large. The pipe supplied seems rather large and I wanted to make sure they didnt give me the pipe for the 75lb thrust class. My thust pipe is not like the one from the website nor is the linkage kit supplied.

Hmmm..
Your nozzle is different than mine for sure. Mine is more tapered. Will have to double check the pipe but I think your exhaust pipe is larger too.

Hi Fender,

I am waiting for mine to arrive. Did you decide to go with the electric retract conversion? If yes - did you match a set yet?
I apreciate the help.

ziv, if you check my build thread I mention this a little. I am going to start out with air since I dont the extra cash to convert them yet but I will convert them eventually. The biggest factor for me was having to get new wheels as well, none of the electric brakes will work with the stock wheels. I just cant bring myself to buying a all new set of retracts at this time since the stock gear is so nice and works very well, plus I have a F-14 coming right behind this one.
That being said when I do convert them I will probably go with the Electrons ER50s since they are a drop fit and dreamworks carries them, Bohetec 50s will work as well and from what I hear they are about the strongest motors you can get.
When I do convert them I will keep the struts and brakes, so I will still have a small tank for air to work the brakes. My gear doors are servo operated so it will just be air for brakes unless i can find a set of electric brakes that will work with my wheels. It would cost me 1200+ to convert everything including brakes, it will cost less than 500.00 to just do the gear actuators. Hope this helps

Ok It seems I have the same nozzle as yours but the ply former is completely different, as the one installed in the fus and the additional one has the mounting points for the pivot brackets on the horizontal and not on the vertical, This can be sorted, but I believe my nozzle is too big for the pipe as my pipe is 112mm diameter on the outer whereas yours is 128mm. This makes the nozzle movement inside the pipe very limited,

Yes Jan, having a ball................

These small problems are not a major issue though. Nothing we can't sort out.

I am so glad I have the kit, it is really nice.

We'll soldier on.

SM needs to add the thrust vectoring to the instructions and the current instruction are not very complete. I have stopped using them at this point. The thrust pipe mounting is not clear either everything is is typical but it is always nice to have something to look at.

Haze, did your bulkhead the vectoring pipe bolts to come installed? or do you have did you have to install it?

well it will be fun while it last atleast LOL nah it should be fine, just make sure you got the special pipe and vector thrust nozzle for the 75lb thrust turbine. Its not meant to be a fast jet, its limited to 180 MPH per SM but you should be able to hover it all day with that thrust.
Im putting a 53lb thrust turbine in.

The former for the 110mm pipe is factory installed at the rear of the fus already. An extra former (a copy of the installed one ) is included as this would be glued to the installed one to make a stronger bulkhead (6mm thickness in total) for the nozzle to be mounted. My problem is I have been sent the nozzle for the bigger pipe (what you got) and no ways will it work as its to big a diameter 106mm, giving 2mm movement. My wooden former is different to yours as you can see, it is made for a smaller nozzle pivoting horizontally and not vertically like yours.

So to summarise: I have the correct pipe )110mm o/d, and bulkheads for my setup (K210), but the incorrect vector nozzle.

Mark...

How is your build of the XXL coming along? We have been progressing well despite a few pieces missing from the kit.
Would like to see some pics of your installation.
Hear of any recommendations / suggestions to improve on the builds?

Does anyone know where to get decals ("Avanti S" logo on wings and fuselage) for the Avanti?
