Thanks for the reply Dave. The P-60 & K-60 are the same, 13# of thrust. I was going to go with the new K-45, 9.9 # thrust, but glad I got the K-60. Our field is both grass & hard surface runway. I just turned 85 & the 100 plus MPH planes are a little much for this old fart anymore. This looks like relaxed fun flying.

Thanks, Don

Congrats, my father was 80 last week and he does not fly anything now.

The KT 45 will fly it for sure, we have 1.8ltrs of fuel and 1ltr smoke so lots of weight on take-off!

I just recently receive my new Eflite Blanik glider. I am interested in putting a turbine on it. The wings on this glider are like surfboards and I know can hold up to aerobatic manuveres gliders are capable of.

Flew the Blanik today, picture perfect flight. K-60, Deamworks turbine mount, 80 oz tank, 51/2 # lead up front. CG at about 25 MM back, flew great. 10 min flight 1/2 tank fuel left. More than enough power for my kind of flying. Rolls & loops from level flight at 1/2 throttle.

Hello friends, I am working on a similar Project with a VT 80 on a H9 ASW 20 and came with some question about the aluminum sheet thickness and gap to protect the Fin??
A 0.003" thick Aluminum Foil Tape would replace the aluminum metal sheet efficiently??
It will be OK to use stock Spektrum 5060 nylon servo arms ?? I cannot find aluminum arms for these servos.

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter

Are you saying just to tape the fin? We get away with that here in the UK, but temps are all together lower. I don't run the turbine on the ground for any length of time. Glider is positioned, turbine started and I take off.

The 5060 should use JR splines, so lots of arms available, but the big thing about nylon arms is shock loads, they are plenty strong enough for the servo torque, its the load on the spline teeth if you knock the surface

Tail on mine has been glassed and painted and also have Aluminum sheet protector with spacers to keep sheet from touching fin. Work good.

Guys,

which mods did you do on the Blanik to install a turbine?
besides the aluminum spacers to mount the engine of course...
also which servos are recommended, and how many?

thanks.

i prefer tubine mount like carbon fiber or aluminium mount
because the turbine force is discharged on wing spar

if you install the engine upper fuselage with bolt you must to reinforce it

spekrtum 6030 on flap
hitec 13kg ailerons + rudder
graupner 6,5kg each elevator

Hi All,

Received my carbon turbine mount from Osvaldo at Osvymodel and whilst not overly cheap they are very high quality and super strong, will certainly outlast the model. Also Osvaldo provides a great service so would recommend using him again in the future. A recommended product for an easy installation that transfers the turbine loads through the wing tube.

Last version of engine mount show large brace support to prevent turbine oscillations

Do not need to match the center of gravity of the glider.
