Default Which flies/lands better? SM F18C or SM F18F?

So I read a lot about:

"F18's are awesome, but they land like crap and eventually you'll dork it"
"F18's land great, just hold power"
"F18C lands better than F"
"F18C bites you on landing more than F"
"Get the one with round intakes, square intakes is the 'harder one' to fly/land" - C has round intakes FYI
"F flies better, it has more wing cuz it's the 'Super' Hornet... Duh!"
"They all fly and land great"
"They all fly and land like crap"
"They all fly great and they all land like crap"

I have seen very experienced pilots land their Tamjet/SM/JL/FEJ 18's like butter on one flight and then slam her down and nearly put the gear through the fuses on the next flight. Why are they so inconsistent? My BVM Hun, BVM F86 both require significant power management on final, but seem much more predictable.

So who likes the C and who likes the F and why????

They all Fly Great and they ALL land Great.

They plowed 'em into the ground because they let the sink rate get away from them. Happens on all planes lil fella.

Just MO but I would choose the C model and if you further expanded the choices I would choose the Yellow Twin and would pick it faster than a cat on a hot tin roof in mid-August (I know not on your list) BUT.......just saying.

C model is Sexier than the F (and lord knows I like 'em big!!!! you know what I'm sayin' dirty dawg........ except when it comes to the Hornet.

Baby Horny better than Super Horny!!

Shaz,

I have only had the F, two of them, one Tam/BVM the other FB in 1/7 scale.

This is roughly how mine would land (Tam F18F)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gz82gy4brY

I think a slightly larger plane with about the same components would be a winner, perhaps 1/6, 1/6.5 without having to get into weight and inspection issues of bigger models.

The only thing I found with the F18 was that the maintenance was a bit more, 10 doors, 10 cylinders 22 hinges (mains have three).....

The SM F-18F lands smoother if you can keep all the tires on

I have only flown the C version, and it is FOR SALE!! I found that any jet you don't land with more then 30 degrees of flaps for a more consistant landing. I have a video of mine in my ad:

Erik. So you want another bug huh? Well, you can get your ole' friend back........like Peaches and Herb would say.....Reeeuuunnniittteeddd and it feels so good!! Mine is still in NJ wishing for some action and you are the right guy to showcase it. Make me an offer and the two of you can can be together again in the friendly spacious skies of the best flying site in the Norht East! FARVIEW !!

It is equipped almost the same as it was when I got it from you with the exception of the following upgrades: ELE servos are DS8711s, new door cylinders all the way around, Dreamworks Gear Failsafe, JMP air manifold, dual Fromeco 5200 ReLions with Sahara regulators, and a Thunder Power LiPo 5000. All you will need is a heartbeat and some motion lotion !! <8-D

Holla back Yo!

Hey bud,

I've been meaning to give you a shout back, but it's been crazy. Son graduated HS Friday,Daughter Junior HS last week. They're short at work, and my phone keeps ringing for overtime trips. Exhausted!!

The thing is,I'm going to tone down the Firebird, and put a smaller motor in it,so the Mammoth needs a home. If I hung it in that bug,we'd just do vertical launches and go for a moonshot! Been looking at the big yellow. Heard and seen nothing but good about it. The Mammoth should push it nicely. Now that Skymaster's coming out with a big one,I'm interested. I'll call you soon. We've gotta go burn some kero. Happy Fathers Day! Take care,

Erik

Do a F-18B, I dont think anyone has done that yet. Looks like an F (twin canopy), but I think the same wing as a C. Prettiest one IMO

Wow that sounds great Anton. A 1/6 scale F-18C with Likai gear! Will the gear have the scale wheel track on the mains? The distance between the 2 main wheels.....I have never seen it done but Likai could be the guy to do it......

Hey!! Congrats on the graduations!! Send them on to the next phase to keep up the good work!!

So the Firebird is getting a heart transplant huh. OK. I finally finished painting Marvin's Firebird. I don't think the Mammonth will fit into this Hornet. Heck, there isn't much side clearance for the P160 as it is. The pipe would be too small for sure. You can't go wrong with the YA version! Although it is your style for vertical launches, moon shots, and global loops! (8D Well it is out there for you or anyone else interested. I'm running out of space for the trip South. btw....can you send me those flight pix you have of it? I thought I had them saved but can't find them. May have gotten lost in the transition to the new facility.

Hope to do some yankin & bankin with you fellas again soon followed by some hangar flyin with some good ole' Bug Juice. I already placed another order.
