Default new jetlegend F16 1/6 scale MK 2

I have just received the first of the new lightweight Jetlegend F16's and I am very impressed. This one is destined for a good buddy down south and I know he does a great job having had two or three F16's in the past. The new lighter construction methods have saved about four pounds overall, and none of the the solid strength has been lost, and the basic design has been improved tons. For example the rudder servo has now been moved to more able position and does not rely on the concealed pin that every one knew to be a recipe for flutter and immediately relocated the servo position. the nose cone is now removable and contains a wooden structure that one can secure the batteries right in the nose, and is held in position by the well known F16 point ..the landing gear frame work for the mains used to be soft aluminum that twisted or bent with heavy landing, is now solid carbon fiber , the airplane now has a full set of scale rivets details and a scale cockpit is available as well, but the biggest revelation for me was the quality of the painted outside the mold thunderbirds scheme, not a blemish or sign of peel just a beautiful out of the box scale finished airplane .. the bird should come in at about 27lbs and I cant wait to get my own under way
I will try to get some pix posted in the near future.......watch this space MK

glad you asked Andi, at first I thought no one was interested, but this such an exceptional kit and in answer to the other thread of the same title, the landing gear mounts and side walls are all carbon, but it is not a hydraulic system it can be used either way but one noticeable fact is the diameter of the tube used in the system is smaller than we are used to ... the nose cone makes the use of nose weight irrelevant as you can get some much stuff up there now.. fuel tanks are now poly propilene and the CG is back at 225mm from the leading edge at the root..a scale cockpit is available and the really impressive rivets and paint outside the mold are something else ... heres a few pix to go on with and I will try to get some more soon MK

its absolutely beautiful inside and out. JL has the cleanest ARF airframes, very different to the other major two ARF brands. Nice glue fillets, nice and clean wood formers, carbon laminated parts.....and no rough composite cloth anywhere.
If Skymaster could make airframes this clean, they would cost as much as BVM.

If it wasnt because of their lack of customer service I'd get one too. No doubt in my mind these are the nicest F16 ARFs.

David, thank you for your kind comments about the quality and integrity of the jetlegend F16..I have watched your comments over the past few months and I am aware that you had some bad feelings towards JL due no doubt to some contretemps, that I am unaware of , I do hope that all of that is in the past. For my own customers, I have been selling JL products or the last six years and I have never had any problem with any of the aircraft kits that I have delivered, I have always found the staff at JL to be helpful and responsive, especially in an emergency , in order to keep one of our airplanes flying. The F16 in particular is probably the most robust of all the similar models made by other manufacturers, my testimony is from my own experience my first JL F16 did over 120 flights in my hands and survived all of my bad landings then was sold to another modeler in Miami where it has completed twice that many and been sold again and is still flying five years later! one of my customers who has just purchased the first of the MK 2's did over two hundred and fifty flights on his before selling it ..I know I am risking the wrath of the internet by blowing the trumpet for JL as I am their agent, but my point is that I would like to bring you back into the fold as it were, and if you would really like to have the new version F16 I will let you have one at an advantageous price. you can bet you will see one at your local field soon, without doubt JL have made huge strides in the structural integrity and the finish is now painted in a totally professional manner outside the mold ( no seams visible ) for which they charge the grand price of $150 on some schemes, the carbon fibre mountings for the landing gear will ensure that you don't have to straighten the alluminium like before, the rudder servo is now mounted in the fin in the proper place, there are removable access panels under the fuse to work on the elevator servos, there will be no nose weight needed as with the new removable nose cone all the batteries will be up front together with whatever you want to put there. and the biggest benefit will be from the weight loss on the airframe with a jetcat 140 rx i weighed the one here at 27lbs.. I know , I know,... quit selling ... go flying ! call me any time the cell # is on the website.. MK

I am getting one RTF ready with T18 Engine, smoke system, scale cockpit kits, all combined. the dry weight is 28.5lbs less batteries per my builder's info. I am expected the 2 1800cc tanks will give you another 8 lbs of weight. This bird will fly very well with any 140N (30lbs) class turbine. I just want to use the larger engine for vertical performance at low speed.

Yes, I saw this plane in person when I stopped by JL factory last week. It's clean and better built than the G1. The landing gear is stronger than before.

Malcolm - are you taking this to KY jet. If so, I don't have to be in a hurry to get mine ready. I just fly yours and T-2 too?

David - Don't worry I will get you covered if you go with JL. I have whacked the owner a few times at this trip. He is finally listening to his customers.

Hi Mike. So it's safe to assume that GJC will be offering this new 16 in the near future?

Beautiful looking airframe

Yes, we are collecting all info and will be offering this through GJC.

Pipe - I recommend using their pipe for 120-160 size turbine. Recommend using Tam pipe for 180 and up.

put smoke nozzle at the tail section of the pipe. Factory will not cover the pipe warranty if you use smoke system inside the pipe. Thermal shocks shorten the life of pipe. No long term test data available yet to determine the lift time effect of smoke system in a pipe.

David - You will eventually persuade yourself. Flying it is worth a thousand words.

I really like the G1. The weight is just so light that I was always to fly it back to the runway when I had flame outs. This G2 is even lighter, so I believe it's going to fly very well.

Regards,

Mike
