Carsten, is there a way to report the position of a discrete switch? Like a gear up sense switch or some other binary state switch?

Hi Matt,
absolutely, this works with both Futaba, JR (XBus) and Spektrum (SRXL) !

If you look at the video below at around 0:45 you can see that the gear channel is defined as channel 5. The gear up and gear down settings are also set (-100 and +100%). When the flight is started in the video (around 1:38) the message "Gear down" is played. Around 3:00 the plane is taxiing to the start position and at 3:34 I have takeoff and immediatly at around 3:39 the gear is retracted (message "Gear up"). The plane is then airborne until 6:05 where the gear is lowered, and shortly after that, plane lands (low on fuel )
I have also thought about the possibility to define other switches with different messages, this is something that might get on the list!

Sorry, I was referring to a switch on the plane. This would have to drive some sort of discrete input on the ASSI. Then on the android device you could see the status of that onboard sensing switch. Like "folding wings are locked" or "canopy downlock is set"

Hi Matt,
ahh, I misunderstood you
Currently I'm doing a new module (ADSB) that fits together with all the other stuff I do, this has a air pressure sensor on it (like my "old" SBUS2 airpressure sensor module) and 3 analog/digital inputs. These could easily be done so they would report to the groundstation, this is a great idea !
The board has the same pressure sensor (10 bar/150 PSI), 3 analog/digital inputs (will also be able to measure temperatures) , 1 servo output (PWM), SBUS2 connection and the usual CAN Bus connection.
It will be a few weeks until it is finished, prototype is running at this moment!
The board is 30 by 48 mm and will be sold by Ultimate Jets like the rest of my boards.

Wow that sounds pretty cool! I'm guessing the PWM servo output could be programmed for a gear failsafe as you are incorporating a pressure sensor on the board?

Nice work Carsten, very innovative.

Thanks Steve,
yep, thats the idea with the servo output, you feed the board with SBUS2 and the board controls your gear/sequencer. It reports the pressure back on SBUS2 and to the Android groundstation.
If using JR or Spektrum, it will still control your gear/sequencer, but will not deliver telemetry to the transmitter, only to the Android groundstation

I have finished my SM F14 and took the opportunity to fit an ASSI unit, ASSI LCD and CAN LCD, it all works extremely nice and make a good change from the Jetcat Mini GSU's I normally use

Thanks Jan.
this is simply 3d printing using plastic. Start with a 3 dimensional drawing and when happy send it to the printer and depending on the complexity and size you take it out somewhere between 4 and 12 hours later.

Just added support for AMT engines in the ASSI device. Device is being sent to AMT for some further tests (to see if fuel consumption calculations are correct etc)

At this point I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the guys at AMT for answering my questions along the way, what a great bunch of guys

Gaspar is out of them unfortunately (and wont be stocking them again)
Have you written to Ultimate Jets? I'm very sure they can deliver to the UK, I know they do/did to many other european countries, Oli will probably chime in here

Why then does the Cart process end with "can't deliver to the UK" then?

Mick,

If it's any help, let me know what your interested in and I'll get you sorted out - I've been dealing with Oli at Ultimate Jets directly for a while now and have a good contact line established.

Interesting stuff to note.
Concerning PowerBox SRS and 18MZ. I only post here because I know many of us use these items in conjunction with Carstens ASSI.

Good link Jason!

I sometimes gets questions asked by users of the ASSI device and some of them are touching some stuff that might be interesting to other users too.I have tried my best to document "everything" in the documentation, but its hard to write over 50 pages for a product that you have done yourself and get everything of interest in it

Assuming you just want to have G sensor reading, Air speed, max Airspeed seen (you can also to that in the TX Min/max values), failsafe counter and RSSI/RX Quality on the transmitter, use the setup shown below.

You can leave the “channel numbers” as they are, if you don’t connect anything to the throttle channel it does not matter. Also the “Control channel”, Flaps channel” and “preset speed channel” are only used with the “IAS warning mode” and the two high bright LED’s (and control channel is also used for auto throttle, but as you don’t connect anything to the engine/throttle ouput that does also not care)

If you have a Fuataba GPS receiver on the SBUS2, select the correct one in the “GPS connected” field, if using CAN-GPS module you can instead select that one.
In the “Slot number assignment” you can select which slots the infomation is sent to the transmitter in. If you write 0 in a slot, it will not be sent to the TX

Thats it, go fly with the thing
