You definitely got a winner there Damo. It's sure feels good when you have something that suits your purpose. Can't wait till my one is all finished with the bike at the back of it going to the island, and with a plane going flying.

Finally got some pics from Big Marty of the rack I mentioned in post #12.
The whole lot slides out in seconds leaving a totally empty trailer & your models still on the rack.

Here is my trailer
Hi guys,
This is my second RC model trailer. It is 3.6 meters long x 2.250 meters high x 1.9 meters wide. The door openings are 1.5 meters high and the height under floor is 280mm. Both floors are height adjustable and can slide out sideways. When the doors are open a shaded all round verandah can be had with two triangular canvas pieces added between the side and rear doors. The main frame construction is steel and everything else is aluminium. The power panel is dual 12v DC and 240v AC - powered by either a 125ah battery and 80watt solar system or external AC power - all used for either 12/24/240v charging up to 4x5amp load. The trailer has LED lights through out and a wireless reverse camera which can be viewed from my driver seat. The total weight is 850 kgs and has brakes fitted. Here are some photo's showing models and wings stored for transport. The front drawer is used for model stands, folding table, charger and other boxes. The rear quarter under floor areas are used for fire extinguisher, overnight marque and 40 litres of extra jet fuel. The front storage area is used for field fuel station, field tool box and other field requirements.
Hope you approve.
Cheers,
Jan

Arhh Jan,
You left us hanging with just one pic!
Wifey not so keen on having a trailer at the front of our house so I will go back to a Van for now. The down side is that i'll have to sell my car and be stuck driving a van when not riding the bike no point having a car, van, and bike at home.
Hey Justflying, what do you think the ballpark figure is for the cost of making the trailer yourself? I've always had a hankering to make my own trailer and just wonder how cost effective it is? Also I think I've read somewhere that the reg's in QLD have changed and you can no longer register a home made trailer if it hasn't been built from approved plans or something to that effect...
Thanks
dave

Just some advise for those thinking about building. If you are thinking about covering with aluminium check out alucobond which is basically two thin sheets of aluminium sandwiched between a composite material. These sheets come coloured so there is no need to spray paint. Unless you can get your sheeting at a good price it mite just be worth using alucobond as you don't have to paint it. When building a trailer of a reasonable size the cost of paint can be very high especially if painting inside as well. I decided to go with aluminium sheeting and spraying my trailer as I got the sheets at a reasonable price.

Another little trick I used from a fellow modeller is to use wireless camera at the front as well especially if you already have 12 volt power to your trailer. This way when you are backing up you can drive your tow ball directly under the tow coupler saving your back from trying to line it up.

Yes Damo defenatly it would, that's why I thought I would post this on here so people trying to build there trailer can copy any ideas they like just like I did with certain things when I built mine.
DrScoles, although I can't answer the specific question about Jan trailer you can get any trailer you want custom built. The biggest problem is finding the rite person to do it.

I have a 16' tandem axle that rides pretty smooth. I installed a work bench, 2-14" pop up vents, 2-7" electric fans in the floor to keep the heat from building up, an Interstate deep cycle marine battery, alarm system, and a 100W solar panel. I installed a rack system that you can walk past the 1 side as it is easier to load bigger planes without having to go around the front to grab it while someone holds it from the rear. I used 2" upholstery foam so the planes have a comfortable ride to the field. I installed 4- 30" 12V LED interior lights that take little to no power to run. My panel will keep up with running 2 fans all day, full time alarm system and a 500W power inverter and lights at night. I also gave it a little wrap job!!
