Busy day at Long Marston JMA event, six Xcaliburs flying.
I had a busy day test flying a total of 6 aeroplanes, but managed to test fly the RAF scheme build. One of the 6 tested was Shane from Guernsey who chose the Xcalibur as his first ever jet. Perfect test flight then Shane had his first three jet flights, took to it like a pro. Photo of him after his first jet flight. JR DMSS XG-14 and P-100Rx power.

Check your wheels !
Hi,
I now have 7 flights on the Xcalibur, all off a grass strip thats well mowed.
Packing up tonight and noticed that 4 of the 6 phillips head screws on the inside of one of the main wheels are missing. All other wheels are fine.
Suggest you all check yours, I'll be adding loctite to mine in tomorrow.
Not sure how I'm going to get replacement screws that match out of Ripmax, but at £400 plus for a retract set I don't expect this to happen in such a short time.
Maybe I should have checked them all ???
Worth checking though.

I automatically check all screws on all gear..even German ones!
There were lots of Xcaliburs flying at our JMA Long Marston event, enjoyed flying the RAF model, funny enough it flys exactly the same as the Sports scheme I built.
Six Xcalibur flights today, split between the Sports and RAF, brilliant model
Great pixs Paul, seems to be a popular scheme. Luckily we get another delivery this coming week.
Greatest satisfaction was watching customer Shane complete the weekend with his sports scheme model, jet novice and got on great with it. Will be interesting to see how he gets on back home at the small Island site!

Dave,
I have now done about 4 hours of flying on my Xcalibur with my Wren 80. Managed to get my hands on a good second hand Wren 100 which is now in the Xcalibur. What a huge difference in performance. Im still coming in to land a bit fast. You mentioned adding crow. How many mm on ailerons do you recommend. Was it approx 5mm?. Another thing i wanted to ask. Do you have any nose leg joiners left in stock. Could do with a couple spare as im not having much luck keeping them straight.

I don't use CROW with my P-100 models, but if you add it 6mm at the aileron root. Any more and the flare becomes unpredictable.
What flap angle do you have? The flap is designed to go almost 90 degrees and 80-85 degrees is a good angle. These 100N turbines all vary so much, my JetCat's don't roll even on smooth tarmac, other makes seem to be less developed on the idle thrust.
Some of the new guys had a weekend of stock useage and I'm not sure what is left, hopefully I'll get more in this weeks delivery
Regards
Dave

Awesome photo's Paul.
One of the things I like most about the RAF scheme is the visibility factor. There's a big contrast difference between the top and bottom of the airplane, so in the event it gets a bit far from you in bad light, you'll still be able to make out the orientation with ease.

scheme is great and looks fabulous in blue sky's, but it's shape you see for orientation, colour is a small factor only, people's eyes see colour differently anyway, especially in different light conditions.
great thing about the Xcalibur is the shape, it's easy to see!

Hi
Was out with the plane today and had some good flights. Had some technical problems with the P100RX, found that fuel pump had some issues but quickly resolved by Dave? JetCat (MTH). On another note just something to be aware of I know the under carriage has been talked about and to check all the wheel bolts however after the last flight today I found the pin that holds the two parts of the trailing link together was just about out and I did check the grub screw so now I have loctited them in. As for flying the plane it is really nice to fly and it makes me look good when I do slow rolls as the plane stays straight and landings are the dog’s bollocks.
PS Just read the Aug/Sep issue of Jet chatter am away to cut my wrists Dave.

Billy. No problem sorting your issues, the old pump and ECU arrived here today and is already on its way back to JC for update on the software.
I added more checks to our addendum sheet today, I always check gear parts other than maybe those supplied by BVM, my first model has a tonne of flying and I have not touched the gear with a tool. It's why some manufacturers like Behotec supply wheels in bits I guess.
rule of thumb always check.
The nose pin steering arm needs a flat...and the leg...

The Wing bags are £49.98 GBP and the Boom set come with the tailplane bag at £69.98. M&R have a deal if you buy both together.
