The red is unknown, but one of the profilm range match. Same red as on the sports scheme!
The short rod and horn position will mean you will probably need differential throw

Hi with the success of this size xcailbur, has ripmax got anything in the pipeline for a slightly larger turbine diameter
airframe which will take the P80 / P90. ( 112 mm dia )

Hi Dave, I've just had a quick look at the Oct/Nov edition of RCJI hoping to read Marco Benincasa's report on the Xcalibur but sadly nothing to read . Gutted.

Me too, thought it was going to boost JP sales further, but he missed the deadline, so next issue. Already had someone email about sending one to Germany! Only left there less than 24 hours ago with them

Depends what Wren figure is! Colin S test shows around a lb on the 100Pro, Which is high. Guess the rigs struggle to measure that low figure, but the JetCat 100Rx is a lot lower and works great in the Xcalibur.
Idle figure is not something most people look at, I think it's very important, hence I fly JetCat :-)

Hi everybody, yes I missed the deadline, and I do apologize for that! Being an Editor myself is really sad! Translating the article took me much more than expected, especially with the summer holidays in between. Now Barry has everything: text and MUCH MORE pictures! I really hope that Barry will forgive all my grammar mistakes! If someone needs any infos about my experience with the Xcalibur just ask, even if we have here Dave Wilshere who's a real authority on the matter. Happy flying!!!

Don't get too concerned over idle thrust - Xcalibur with Wren 100 will still fall out of the sky on full flap if you've slowed down too much on approach - (yes - I know! - and it's a remarkably robust airframe!!)
On a serious note - the idle thrust depends on the set idle rpm - the Wren quoted figures are 0.75lb at 45000rpm - my 100 was factory set to idle at 50000rpm - I am currently flying (very happily) with the idle reduced to 48000rpm - this seems to give good compromise between idle thrust and throttle response (spool up time).
And if like me you are flying from a small rough/undulating patch - you WILL bend the odd nose gear pin!

I started off with the Wren 80 and it flew great. I have now fitted a Wren 100 and the performance is outstanding compared to the 80. Landings are not a problem. Use full flap at 90mm and little crow and she comes in nice and slow.

The Xcalibur will fly great on the Wren 80. The only difference between the 80 and 100 that i noticed was its a bit faster.

Test flew the second of the RAF Xcalibur's I built a few weeks back, happy owner AP shown with it and his tray "European" XG-14E radio choice, just after its first flight.
Managed a few flights with my own Xcalibur, still enjoy flying it, such range and ease of flying all in one airframe

Another session with this jet today, cut short by another dead stick landing.
We had an unexplained deadstick on the first flight but thought it was a result
of one of us hitting the cut-of switch in the scramble to pass the transmitter from
the student to teacher when the flight path looked a bit hairy.
Today, ECU message 'speed low', CAT half full, tank half full, easy diagnosis fuel feed from
tank fell off? Ahh ..... no.
The clue was when we drained the tank to fix the clunk, steady fuel flow from the tank
to the CAT with no bubbles, bubbles after the CAT. Cause was a split in the CAT, under
suction from the pump the CAT sucked air slowly until it was half full.
More info in my knowledge bank. At least the Xcalibur is a good glider!

Yep, wouldn't be my first choice either but I didn't build it.
Not sure but I think it may have been cracked forcing it between the fuselage top
and the nose wheel bay moulding.
He has a spare, flying again next week.

My Feedback: (28)
Just got home from SuperJet South. Excaliburs were well represented with about 6 in attendance. At least one in every scheme. The white had the best visibility in the weather conditions (cloudy), the silver was a little hard to see due to the weather and the Brit scheme looked amazing when it flew through patches of sunlight....it exploded in color. All flew outstanding with a variety of motors from a P-60 up to a Jet Munz 100. Put up a good performance against a lot of high dollar sport jets and no dings to any of them. This is a really fun jet for a little money.

I need a source for some tires and struts for my xcaliber. I have just flat out wore mine out. Global here in the states does not have any.I thought I saw a place that might offer some aftermarket struts. If international shipping isn't too stiff may go that route.
thanks!
