I have a PST 800R in mine and it reguired about 250 grams of lead up front. I made up a LED light system and power it with a 3S LiPo and a RC switch. With that battery up in the nose, was able to remove the lead. The lights are super bright and are very helpful on a overcast day, especially the military scheme.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could give me a quick comparison of the general flying characteristics b/n the Xcalibur and a Falcon 120. I'd also be interested in how the landing rollout is, given the smaller stance between the main gear compared to the 120.

Thanks

Dave

I have owned both and the Excalibur is by far the better plane, very stable and easy to land.

We have all used the nylon control horns, mostly with P-100Rx turbines.

BTW, for those interested in economy price electric retracts, i have these in my Ultra Flash and they work very well, looks and feel identical to ER40, even the controller is the same:

im guessing they would be perfect for the Xcalibur also, after proper fitting.

hibrido9 (from post #1006) did it with about 150g of lead in the nose... do you see a problem with this setup (although tight)?

Dave, can you take the same picture but without the wide aluminum mounts on the P80?

Dave,

I made up my Tank Fiitings today using the recommended Clunk line length of 170mm (170mm tygon length from earlier in this thread).

Looks too short in the tank, what do you think? is it okay or should it be closer to the rear of the tank?

Thanks!

P-80 makes for a heavy Xcalibur. I wouldn't

That's perfect, exactly were my clunk sits.

I don't own one of these (but I am buddy-boxing a guy with one) and it's a great flying jet ....

BUT!

Are there any factory mods planned for that crappy method of fitting the canopy?

I haven't read all 55 pages of the thread so if the problem has been solved with a simple mod
could you please direct me to it? Thanks.

John.

Boomerang 1,

Check out post #1146 on page 46. It's not a factory mod but it works for me.

cheers,

Rick

What's the problem? One tool, 5 seconds!?

Dave,

I've noticed in some of your customer builds on here you use Festo valves for the air fill valve - I know there are two that are very similar devices for the application. One that seals when the tube is unplugged (Plastic boby) and one that is a true non-return valve (Aluminum body on this one).

I'm guessing the true non-return valve is the way to go?

Which do you use / recommend??

Cheers (yet again!)

Thanks Ricko, am I correct in assuming the airflow, along with the slight amount of friction on the front
plate hold the canopy back & secure?

What's the problem? One tool, 5 seconds!?
That's it in a nutshell Dave, one tool too many, 4 seconds too long.

If Boomerang Jets got it right 15 years ago what's Ripmax's excuse?

John.

John

Oh..they didn't! Seen tops come off Boomers and wipe out tails. (The Elan and Torus have one screw also)
The prototype had a clever hatch catch but we changed it to something secure...
I can spare the time, its the same tool that removes the wings, so its in my pocket. I have a shorter screw than supplied, 15mm is perfect.

Dave
