Ripmax Xcalibur Sports jet

You shouldn't need to go silly on the wing bolts. The bolts screw into a steel nut not just the plastic. I normally fit one wing, make sure the tube is fully engaged, then slip the other wing on. Can be a bit tight but not had to sand anything (did put a chamfer on as per Dave's instruction).

Good news!. I don't need to add any weight. Bad miscalculation on my part. That plus the beer, the ice storm, the power outage.. Got it right today though. I don't like how weak the canopy is though, so I will be adding formers to strengthen.

The K-100 is a chunk heavier than a P-100Rx, no UAT could meet 4 oz. Battery size?
Basically, balance it where it needs to be 170mm is sweet and fly.
I test flew another new Xcalibur today, no weight, but it has a JetCat mini GSU added in the cockpit.

Recently I purchased the Excalibur mini P20 size and although this was the first batch of kits and a number of items were missing the kit itself is nicely put together. I have placed the 110cm of fuel tubing, prevents pulsing of the P20, under the fuel tank mount. Utilising Velcro to secure the balsa spacers and tack so I can gain access later if needs be.

This may seem like a silly question, but where are people mounting the fuel tank vent? I have a high flow flush mount vent from Dreamworks and have absolutely no idea where the best place for it would be.

Mine is mounted on left side (as if your flying plane yourself) below the left tray, in front of the intake a few inches. Also have a smoke tank vent beside it. Same dreamworks vent.
Its a a nice short section of tubing from tank vent line to fuse vent fitting

No I'm not selling these I get all my jets from Dave at Motors and Rotors, with retracts, servos and extension leads it came to £632.00. When I have finished the airframe I'll transfer my P20 from my Habu 32 and test run/fly. If it flies as good as the larger version she should make an ideal second jet. My current collection is Boomerang Elan, Carf 3D euro fighter and Carf Ultra Flash all running Jetcats.

Has anyone used the Dreamworks landing gear package on this airframe?
I got it and the nose gear doesn't fit right so I had to use stock, the main gear legs are too short so I'll have to add spacers in the retracts to make them work, and the retracts base plate, that screws into the airframe, is a good bit smaller.
Do the gear work OK despite these shortcomings?

No. The idea was to rotate schemes and the Military has been dropped and a new Sports scheme is coming. Unless you can find one in stock there won''t be more

Wow, I was just told that it would be 4-5 months before the next round is made. No military schemes in stock, so they are all sold out. Since everybody is asking for it, maybe they will make a few more in the next batch? Pleeeese?

Just maidened mine today...Couldn't get the canopy to lock..The slots are cut to close to the edge and created a lot of problems when they cracked/broke. Took off and needed FULL down trim!! There was talk about that in this thread before,I even added a 3mm wedge to the stab and it wasn't enough!? Though having a bit of down pressure the entire flight, it was a smooth flight with and even smoother landing. then the nose gear collapsed That was my fault as the steering guild cables are just a bit to snug.
The K100G performed flawlessly. Though I do actually miss the GAS start. So much faster and less fuss. Just Pop/Ramp/GO!
So lets get back to the conversation on why this plane has so much LIFT. One cant help but to think that the angle of incidence is wrong on the wings.. or that the huge Bottle Nose Dolphin Canopy is generating so much lift all on its own.

A 3mm wedge would be a massive change. Something else is happening, I've test flown enough of these and still have not had to change the tail seat to fin top incidences. Only the tail lower skin sitting on the back notch of the fin has caused a problem and I check that before the test flight.
Can you take photos of the socket area on the tailplane?
All the Xcalibur range have the same fuselage shape, its not that. Turbine mounted on blocks on rails?
Not had problems with the canopy hooks either, did you sand off the sharp edges left by the cutting?

I'll get some pics for you soon Dave.
Yes the engine is on the blocks provided.
I know what is causing the problem with the canopy. Like I mentioned the holes are far to close to the edge and they break. This is something that the manufacture should improve. Make that area wider. Also add formers inside the canopy for strength and to keeps it alignment with the holes.
Going to take pics soon
Thanks

Well my Xcalibur is over 2 years old, heading for 200 flights, not seen a problem with the canopy or hooks, in my local club there are 12+ Xcaliburs that must be close to 1000 flights combined and none of the owners have had a problem or mentioned it! Used as designed, it works perfectly for us!
Waiting for pictures to try and help on the trim situation
