Hey Frank,

You need to send those Turbine's back for retrofit to the latest and greatest "Power Pack"

Taking a break between applying decals, I started on converting my landing gear to hydraulic. Broke 1 festo and I have to replace 2 orings on piston (popping piston out snagged a burr from the threaded in air fitting):

Had to remove the air fittings which were threaded in. Drilled and tapped the holes to 5mm. Using festo 90 deg fittings with 5mm threads.

Frank can you figure out a better way to run the light wire on the strut? Looking good on the hydraulic system!! Can't wait to see how yours comes out before I attempt to do mine :-) The best thing is I get to see yours in-person!
Thanks Billy D

Ditch the ty raps, paint the wire white, route at right angles, and CA the wire tight to the strut.

what hydraulic kit are you planning on using? I'm not happy with hobby king kit on my 1/6 f-18 pump can barely lift 1 gear much less 3.

Did the nipples on the gear not come as 4mm? the fej 1/6 f-18 had 4mm nipples.

I ordered the HK kit (UMS)... but reading the other thread I am going to switch out the pump with a turbine pump. My gear had threaded 3mm air barbs.

While waiting on retracts parts for the conversion, started on weathering the F15 getting it dirty. Using Daniel Smith Dry Pigments: Carbon Black & Titanium White, mixed the two together to get a dark greyish black. Never weathered a plane before so let me know what you guys think. Dirty enough or too dirty? Below is a before and after picture of the rudder:

Why would you complicate the gear system with Hydraulics? What is the benefit? From what I have seen hydraulics tend to be troublesome. Not trying to annoy just a question.

It is not complicating the system. I been working with hydraulics for the last 20yrs of my profession, so it is not complicated for me. The gear on the this F15 is big and heavy, electric will not cut it (I witness 1/5 with electric was not impressed) so hydraulics is generating psi on board, more reliable then charging an air system. Once everything is setup basically flawless.

well good luck with them, I asked around and even the Robot guys said they only had success with hydraulics when running 500+ psi

I'm going with the 4mm air lines, running 120 psi, they seem to work well using the Jet tronics high flow valve.
