It was a great weekend here, glad you got to enjoy some if it. Flew most of today at our local field. Great day. I still have some things to figure out but it is up and running. Thanks again for all of your time and phone calls.

I am still wondering why only the one Rx gets switched to show the CB 200? my mind expects to see both displaying the CB 200...

Is there a way to display frames or dB reading as opposed to a "9" for the antennae? I don't know what the scale is for the antennae, is 9 good, 8 bad? I couldn't find a description so far.

Thanks
Dave

Dave... The current software shows the CB200 as linked or attached to one of the R3's.., I don't think you can see antenna strength in DB.. Antenna strength 9 is the highest and scales down to 0 lowest and the you have signal quality which is from 100% to 0%. You can always check your antenna strength A1 and A2 and quality Q in the log file after each flight. The log gets recorded once your timer is turned on ...

Enjoy.

I am getting the hang of this, it seems pretty darn good. I am assuming that every channel has the same resolution/servo (Function 1 versus 9 or Servo 1 versus 15)?

Also, I have the Jeti transmitter tray for transmitter and it won't fit unless I put the transmitter into it and re-assemble it....??? It seems like it should slide in between the top and bottom pieces but it won't fit..anyone else experiencing the same thing? This is the non-tray- transmitter, with the Jeti tray for this specific tx.
I have the same tray. I have not found an easy way to disassemble my tray either.
What I did was to carefully cut the foam out of the bottom side of the case. Now my transmitter/tray fits in in one piece.
It takes a little imagination but is doable.

Sorry Dave and Stan.. I wish I could help you both with the tray issue... I don't use one... But if you do find out please share here..

Thanks. and enjoy your Jeti system....

As Dave S said, the antenna strength is a relative scale.. Since the signal is digital, its really about the quality of the signal.. thats the number I watch.. Its as close to frames as we can get.. It will tell you the integrity/packet loss of the signal at any given instant.. The system can handle a very low quality number and hang on.. also remember that even if you get a signal loss, that is the telemetry loss.. You should retain control during that time due to the dual link, backups, and received strength at the model usually being higher than the received strength at the transmitter..

Even with a very weak signal, digital can have good integrity..

I flown really high using the Cortex in hold to go straight up...

I went to 1870ft and dive back, i had a radio signal of 3 at that altitude with full control!

Hello.

I have some issues with setting up a Cortex with my DC 16. I have put the on/of to the sj switch.
I have gyro off and gyro normal, but I can't get it in the hold mode.
Gyro off is in center and normal is with the switch pushed forward.
But when I want it to go to hold, it is still in red when I have pulled the switch to the bottom.
I have set the normal at -30 and off at 0 and hold at +40.
Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong here?

Svein,

Your setup sounds fine but you might want to check a couple of things. Go into Servo Settings and confirm that your output is -30/0/40 when you move the switch. You also should check the receiver/central box port that you are using for the gain to the Cortex. Some ports need to be configured as servo output. The easiest way to check is to plug in a servo to the port and confirm the servo moves when you move the switch.

Regards,

Jim

Hi Everyone,

I bought the M450 speed sensor, I didnt realize the accuracy on this is half of the 300, but it still should work well for me.

I plan to mount it in the stbd wing on the Hog in the scale position. I am wondering if it is better to have longer electrical leads to the wing tip or to have longer tubing to allow the sensor to be farther inboard? Pactically, the pitot tuube will go in the wing leading edge and the sensor will either go closer to the wingtip to service through the tip of the wing, or it will go farther inboard (preferred) to someplace that I can fit it through the aileron servo cover.

Either way it is going to be 7-8 feet away from the reciever and will require probably 2 - 48" extensions to reach the receiver. There is no mention of limiting the length of tubing or electrical connectors for installation.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

What is your setup, main receiver with a satellite or a central box?

Dave,

OK, so you have to take the sensor signal back to the Central Box. The sensors have an analog signal so the concern would be voltage drop on the long cable and potential interference from sources of electrical noise next to the cable routing. I have an MSPEED installed on the fin of the plane and used all of the tubing that came with the sensor (plus some regular airline tubing) to get the static and dynamic pressure lines up into the component area. You should be fine with the sensor mounted near the wing root where it can plug into a servo extension running from the wing root to the Central Box.

I doubt that you need a 450 in a Hawg. Why not save it for a Bandit/Flash and use the regular MSPEED.

Regards.

Thanks for the information. I chose the 450 thinking it was " better" not realizing the accuracy was a bit lower. I could use it in my UB or bvm f16 too I guess.
Do you think the longer air lines influence the accuracy?

Thanks again,
Dave

The longer air lines would not affect the accuracy at steady state (constant airspeed) but would have a slight effect on dynamic response. The sensor operates on pressure so a longer column of air (due to the long air lines) has to be pressurized/depressurized during acceleration/deceleration so the response will be damped slightly.

Jim I noticed you said airline tubing do you think the rigid wall helps , say compared to silicone fuel tubing between the sensor and pitot?

Off the cuff, I'd doubt that rigid wall tubing will make any difference. The pressures involved are rather low so there is little effective increase in tube inner diameter (and thus the volume of the air column) as dynamic pressure increases.

Jim

I found the problem. It is really funny, I could not program a switch on any of my planes. They just work from 0 to + 100, not to -100.I had two new recivers on my shelf and put one of them in my plane and guess what? Now my switches work both ways. The reciver is over two years old and I have never updated it. Mabye it should try to update it. It is the 14 channel reciver.
Any thougts anyone?

I think that updating the receivers would be a good idea.

hello,

What configuration for using a powerbox srs with a R9 and Rsat,
I would also like to have the telemetry with Rsat.
I have tried unsuccessfully over configuration.

I have an F-86 with 15 channels. I could use an R18 Rx with an rsat, or a CB200 with 2 rsats. I don't need any telemetry sensors. What are the pros and cons of each, which would you recommend and why?

Harry, our good friends Dave (GooseF22) & Jim (rcjets_63) did an Excellent study of the pro's and con's of each receiver setup... Please refer to the posts starting with #206

Enjoy....

I would appreciate your input on this:
I have been using PowerBox RRS with dual receivers on all my turbine jets. I recently read that PowerBox SRS will allow serial interface from Jeti receivers through RSat.
Does anyone have actual experience with using it in this way, if so, what are the caveats?
Thanks, Chris
