Be aware that Power box sensor switch is limited to 5A . Might be ok depending on size of your jet. I'm running the CB200 connected to PB Baselog in a couple of jets that were converted to Jeti and didn't have HV servo's

I have my DS 14 on the bay, guess we will see how these things hold their value. If anyone wants a deal on one, there it is.

I've been given by my local Jeti distributer (who contacted Jeti to ask) the following update on the 24ch firmware update for the DS:16:

"we have a beta update for testers, at the moment we are tuning it and catching possible issues... ETA approx end of October."

How does the 900Mhz work, is this meant to be used for student-teacher systems between 2 DC24s only or will other transmitters understand this protocol, too? Or will there be an update for the current receivers to listen to that frequency also?

Hi Mike,
Normally a jet setup nominally has 1x RUD (occasionally 2), 1 or 2 ELEV, 2x AIL, and 2x FLAP servos. The only really constantly active servos in flight are the ELEV and AIL's.

Do you have any idea what type of setup would cause a maximum draw of 5A?...thats the important Q here...

I do not use HV servo's, only the digital type.

cheers,
Leon

There will be new receiver based on existing R3/RSW for 900MHz band. You will connect it to EXT port of Central Box 200/400 or any REX receiver as 3rd receiver. Dual Band, Triple Redundancy.

I think you could get up there with a jet the size of a CARF Hawk for example. I haven't taken any measurements with Jeti but, I used to run Weatronic and it would log the current at .1 sec intervals. I could see spikes as high as 16amps in a CARF Hawk but, a constant current of never more than about 3.5amps.

I use one of the PB switches in my CARF Flash but, I wouldn't be comfortable using it in anything much bigger.

While 5A seems very minimal for a large airplane, I just reviewed the telemetry logs from the CB200 in my Skymaster/Xtreme Jets small Hawk 100 and it appears that it is typically drawing approximately about 1.5 - 2.0A while flying around with brief increases to about 3A. This airplane has 5, Savox 1256 servo for Ailerons, Flaps and Rudder and a single JR 8711 for Elevator. I was surprised it wasn't more since for example my 100cc aerobatics airplanes often hit 15A spikes during maneuvers such as snaps, etc.

EDIT:
Meant to add a comment that in spite of the fact that the 5A limit seems adequate based on the above, I would still recommend removing the switch all together and simply connect 2, A123 batteries directly into the CB200. If you're using 6V servos, A123s have the same voltage characteristics as the 5 cell NiMH batteries that the servos were designed to work with so no regulation is needed.

My highest amperage load isn't in cruise or aerobatics. My highest current load in in the landing phase with the flaps down against the wind, and the gyro working at more gain.. my élan used to pull 5-8 amps depending on the speed. fwiw..

We flew jets on the 5 amp switch for years, but there is a better way now.. In your case, either just replace the futaba with a 14 or 18 chan receiver, or ditch the whole thing for a CB200.. either way you will likely be happy..

The 14/18 allows you to set up 2 Sat backups in clone instead of one.. So you also run in the default mode for that..

the CB using dual path gives you diversity, and load telemetry/monitoring..

What I did on my 14 equipped aircraft is install an MUI30 on each batter input line feeding my old wolverine switch.. Then I plugged the output of the twin regulators(2 JR wires) into a custom wire with a MPX plug on the end for the receiver.. The other two outputs went to the matchbox and the cortex.. The MUI30's allow me to monitor the main battery usage and everything resets when I unplug to charge.. So it works a lot like a CB200 in functionality.. But in practicality, Im going to rip it all out this winter and install a CB200 with 2S4000 LIFE Receiver packs from Buddy RC, buried in the aircraft. I plan to use the wireless switch.. I had the setup on my Elan that way, and its simplicity is wonderful..

That said, we are also playing around with the CB400 a little bit looking at distribution options and the BEC outputs for running things like the turbine or smoke pump.. a couple guys are experimenting with that..

Guys, how do I use Jeti Flight Monitor.

I have downloaded it, unzipped it and installed it. When I attempt to open it, it opens for a couple of seconds with a big white box that says Jeti Flight Monitor and then it closes and that's the end of it!

I tried following the included instructions but, the translation is terrible so, I'm obviously missing something. Appreciate any help

Thanks

Mike

I have been as well up until now. I had hoped to get the GPS data and have a look at the flight path. I want to see what sort of range I'm flying at. Is there another way to do that? ie. drop it into google earth.

Gents,
thanks for your replies on this topic Mike & Wayne. I've been using my CB200 with a PB Sensor switch very successfully on my JL F22. Running a Cortex as well as Elevons with Ailerons and never had a problem.

I've been unable to get FM to work either. I suspect it's the JAva version I'm running and the fact that I'm still using Windows 7. I found data explorer ( http://www.nongnu.org/dataexplorer/ ) which is free and seems to work well enough. I just import the log files directly from the transmitter and it displays them nicely on my mac and there is a PC version as well,

You have a great radio, why selling?

I have mine up for sale right now as well. Great seems to be in the eye of the beholder. Does not seem to be too popular though, as no one has bid on it yet. I will chalk this up to one of the bigger mistakes I have made in this hobby and eat it I suppose.

Mistake how? What will it not do that your current radio can do? I'm debating move from Futaba.

Leon, can you describe how you have the PBs feeding into the CB200? I just want to make sure based on someone else's issue a year or so ago. What batteries, what connectors..thanks... dave
