Andes Jets 2014 - Santiago, Chile
We are proud to announce that the Club de Aeromodelos de Chile (CACH) will be hosting Andes Jets 2014 an event that is aimed at radio controlled jet fanatics. The event will be held between April 3 -6, 2014.
At only 30 minutes from the city of Santiago, our club counts with a runway of 250 meters long and 20 meters wide.
In order to keep everybody updated, we have created the following page in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/andesjets
On a regular basis, we will be providing information about the event, guests, accommodation and any other relevant information.
On May 2013, our club was fortunate to be able to host Manecojet 44 where there were more than 80 invited pilots. We hope this new event is even bigger.

Hi everyone, hope to see you all in Chile in April. As Gonzalo said we hosted Manecojets 44 this year but for next year it is our own event. We are really working very hard to have a great event for everybody and I am sure that you guys will have a great time here.
April is great as it is still hot and weather in great.
Santiago is a great city and there are lots of things to do, even if you come with your family.
We will have special accommodation prices as well as everything prepared for receiving large boxes for the jets.
More information on this in the next days.
Well I hope to see everyone in April here....
Michel

For those coming from the US, there are direct flights to Santiago from Miami, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles so there are no excuses for not coming. Several direct flights are also available from Europe and Australia.
As you may know, Chile it's very famous for its wines and at the time of the event, we are going to be in the middle of the grape picking season. You can expect several parties related to that.....
For those who like salmon or trout fishing, we have some of the best places in the world in the south of Chile. April is a perfect time for some good and big salmon catching.
If you are interested on coming and spend a couple of extra day in our beautiful country, please let us know in advance and we can help you organize several activities.

OK.... now that the show is over and we've had time to rest, I would like to show you a little bit more on what we did on our event. Hopefully, this will make you think about coming and visit us next year.
Our club has a long history of RC Flying but it was the first time we organised a Jet Event on our own.
Safety is "extremely" important in our club and for the jet group, so we decided to have a constante presence of paramedics, ambulance and fire fighters during the event. In order to be able to react fast in case of jet crashes, we had two standby motorcycles ready with fire extinguishers.
Always thinking about safety, the fuel supply was also heavily regulated.
In order for visitor to be able to eat and drink something during their visit, we installed a place for soft drinks sales and also a couple of food carts that prepared some "excellent" hotdogs and hamburgers. Since the weather is still quite hot in here, we installed a big tent so that the visitors were able to eat in the shade.
We also had some other food suppliers like Thermomix (from Europe) that offered hot chocolate, strawberry smoothies, all sort of homemade cookies, cinnamon rolls, etc.
Nestle with its Milo brand was also present. They offered "free" cereals and cold chocolate drink to all the people that visited us. They also installed and area were small kids could go and play.
A local hobby store also supported us and and our local glider club was also showing the visitors what their sport is about.
Safety and security was very tight during the event and for that we hired a bunch of club member sons to help us.
The areas available for the visitors were ample and some of them had some shade available. All the areas had chair available for he people to comfortable sit and watch the show. All areas were protected with metal bars in case that a jet got out of control.
Good sound system for the show.
Good facilities for the invited pilots to have lunch and a place were to chat.
And to finish, a nice dinner right there in the club.
Models were superb and I will show some of them in a next post.
If you are adventurous enough, plan to visit us next year and you won't be disappointed. It was four great days of flying and social activities.

So it's time for us to announce our second jet show...... Andes Jets 2015.
The event is going to be held in "Club de Aeromodelos de Chile - CACH" in Santiago - Chile between April 9 to 12.
This year, the event is not going to be open to general public and the idea is to focus on the participants so that they can have the best experience possible.
The trip is worth it. Chile is a very nice and stable country and our facilities are top notch. You can see what happened in Andes Jets 2014 in https://www.facebook.com/andesjets?ref=bookmarks
If you are planning come, let us know in advance and we will help you with all the necessary arrangements.

Thatīs great news Gonzalo, I will try to go back there in 2015, as Chile and the CACH is a awesome place. However, in the last year our local airline (TAM) has made very difficult checking in big boxes and models, even following strictly the u.s. ntsb requirements.
Donīt know if this is happening also with LAN , as it would be great to know what are the current policies and requirements about traveling with models in this company.
If LAN grants the right to us to check-in the boxes, I would drive myself to Sao Paulo to go there, and I am sure many other jet guys from Brazil would do the same.
