Are you going to ups or to a privately own ups store? Ups store will cost almost double.

True... UPS stores are a ripoff and they are very limited on what they do. like Sysiek says, USPS very very good, specially for international shipping for about half of what fedex and ups charge

In my view this is where I feel Jetcat USA (If it was them you bought it from) should step up to the plate and help you with some of this shipping cost. I am guessing that in India $300 US represents quite a lot of money compared to the average salary in India

I think 300 is a fair bit of money anywhere on earth. Especially for shipping a small engine. I love my jet cats. Have owned at least 6-7 so not trashing them. Just a wee bit disappointed and considering that we have to deal idiotic customs it's going to be a painful process to send it out and bring it back in. Im sending it back next week. Fingers crossed and hope it comes back the way it should have in the first place. And without customs headache.

Will the update reset, or freeze the warranty? Or is it still 3 years from purchase date?
thanks, Jay

Jack is right. UPS is a bit of ripoff. Their insurance rates seem to be way higher than Fedex.
..but they do have the UPS delivery girl ..although I've never seen her.

Average salary in India? It's a $4k motor when new. Doubt he makes an average salary. $300 is steep no matter how you look at it though.

Like anything the warranty is from the original date of purchase...but you get a win from the motor going back, as its like having a service, I bet if they find anything they will sort it, so motor comes back ready for another long stint...

As Dave said, the warranty is from the date of purchase.

This is a dumb question, but what number are you calling and what time?
They called me today at 1:36pm.
Are you on facebook? friends with John or Jetcat online? might be another source.

I received a letter today from JetCat explaining the 180 recall procedure. I called and Annette gave me a ship date to send in my motor. No problem at all calling in and speaking to someone ?

Maybe I am calling the wrong number. I always got Bob in the past this number. I was calling 805-226-8700 it rings several times and then goes to voicemail. I called during their normal work hours.

I am in the process of listing my 180rx with a plane for sale.
any chance I can ask to get the turbine turned around to help with the sale?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Guys, I normally don't post but I feel I have to give credit when it is due. Also, I think this would give some of you a piece of mind. I have one of the early 180 RX turbines and it had issue from the day one. I started using it in early April and it did spend most of its time with UPS between me and jetcat and it's final trip to Jetcat was in Sept and that was the reason that it was one if the first 8 that John mentioned that they would be getting worked on and from what I know, may be the first or second one. The turbine was updated and returned to me and I received it yesterday and I ran it today. The difference is very very noticeable. The start is very smooth (like my other 120, 80, etc.) and so is the acceleration. I did play with it for a while and everything seem good. First, I have to say thanks to John as I talked with him many times and did feel that he cares. Second, assuming the in the air performance is the same, it was worth waiting as I don't handle change very well and like to keep only one brand of each product to eliminate confusion and mistakes.

Thanks

Behzad

My 180 was purchased in oct of 2012 and seemed to run fine but I did have it turned down in the jet I was using it in. Anyway good to hear you are happy with the update mine has been at Jetcat this past week getting the update.
