Anton, in the manual you listed the "aircraft grade aluminum slat servo mounts" as an optional item. I know you had the original servo mounts fail. Are these "Aircraft grade aluminum" included with the kit or are they optional??????

Anton. Check the recommended throws section of the manual. I am having a hard time figuring out which surface you are talking about. Also, some of the figures do not appear to be right.

Yep, definitely confusing. Not even going to try to explain it.

The control surfaces on the wing (other than Slats) are either Flaparons or Flaps (not Ailerons). I don't think SM is recommending just the use of Ailerons. Recommend the word "Ailerons" be removed from control surface settings as it causes confusion.

So, one configuration uses just flaps, and the other flaparons ? What would the advantage of one config versus the other be, and which configuration was the test model flown with ?
Thanks-Mike O

By looking at the video, it appears Configuration B was used. I don't know the advantages/disadvantages between the two....Anton would have to answer that.

I would like Anton or MNModels confirm my interpretation of the control settings are correct????

I agree with IFLYBVM2, why would there be 2 configurations? I know the full scale uses the slats in conjunction with the elevons in high G maneuvers. I understand the the flaperon mix with elevon for landing as it improves stability at low speeds. Is the 100mm and 66mm high and low rates?

Anton mentions using a PowerBox Royal in the airframe. I would assume its the one with the Igyro built in. Has anyone mixed 4 control surfaces together with a Igyro? (i.e. elevons and flaperon) I never have.

Hopefully Anton will chime in and clarify for us.

Cant wait to get mine!

The reason why I was interruptering the way I did on the control surface settings is because of what is on page P-12 of the manual....

"The 1/5 F16 have 2 control surfaces on each wing. Slat and Flaperon. It is up to you in what configuration you would like to build F16. You can opt for full flaps on the wing and tailerons. Or you can go with flaperons mixed with tailerons. The F16 with the help of slats can fly real slow. It is important to make sure the SLAT STOP is working prop-erly for the safety concern."

Anton was not using flaperons in take off or landing configuration from what I see on video. Don't know why you couldn't use it and as you stated, it would improve more stability at slow speeds. But then again, looking at the video with full ordnance high alpha landing, how much more stability does one need?

Hope my F-16 ships before they close for the Chinese holiday. Does anyone know when it starts and for how long?

Silly question maybe, but when it states for example, 42mm throw on the rudder, is that indicating total throw or 42mm each way ?

Each way for each setting....elevon up - 100mm, down - 100mm. Rudder, 42mm Right, 42mm Left

Yes, that would be in each direction.

Slats plus flaps increases the wing camber. This inreases the lift of the wing and allows the wing to stall later so slower flight speeds are possible.
Flaps only is like above just less effective.

Using flaps and slats you should get used to flying slow with the nose high, called high alfa or high Angle of Attack (AOA). Use power to adjust altitude and speed while maintaining a high AOA. It takes practice and trust in your equipment so practice up high.

I modified an EDF A-4 foamy with scale fixed slats to train with. Amazing how slow you can go but you must use the power almost like you would the elevator so you must be ahead of the plane. I could pull full back stick and only with power and ailerons I could fly around the field. Great training exercise, highly recommend it.
