Any decent sport options for Wren 54/P60?
I've been having a think about possible options for airframes for my Wren 54 once my Boomerang Nano wears out. Can anyone think of any conventional sports models that would suit these smaller turbines?
I had considered trying a Bandit ARF but if I'm spending that much money then I'd be looking at a bigger turbine. I know it's not a sport model but I might have also considered the BVM T-33 if it wasn't so expensive.
The Nano is great but I wouldn't be looking at another twin boom model for a while, so that rules out the Xcalibur. I know there are a few suitable deltas such as the Mick Reeves Reaper and the Avonds Rafale, but are there any 'traditional' sports models (like a mini version of the Flash) for 13/14lb engines?

Electra with a 60 size turbine is a great combo. BVM sells it as a turbine kit if you request it (not on their site I think)
I have not flown one on a turbine, but people that have give it rave reviews
I have lots of flights on the e version. Amazing airplane.
Another option if you prefer scale is the 60" sabre. Another great flier
Hope this helps

Look at the 83% Turbinator from Laser Design Services if you want a sport jet and are willing to build. It says it is for a Wren 44 but I have one and it would be better suited for a Wren 54 or P-60. It is almost the same size as the Nano. Try this link.

I love the BVM jets but they are big $$$$ (and possibly OTT for my old Wren 54 Mk3). The Electra turbine has disappeared from the BVM website so had assumed that it had been discontinued. Again though, it was very expensive and if was going that route I'd probably go for the Bandit. I have had a couple of BVM jets (Bobcat and currently building Mig 15 from an old kit) and they are great but you're looking at approx $5000 for a go-fly Electra and $6000 for a T-33 kit (+tax and shipping) which is bananas.
I've seen the Inspiration fly and I'm not a huge fan although that may be just because it looks a bit like my old Spark, which wasn't my favourite model.
I'm surprised that hardly anyone makes a more 'budget' model for these smaller engines. I had high hopes for the JoaoMatos EXM Mini but this didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. The Reaction 54 is another option but it leans a bit too much on the 'trainer' side rather than pure sport.
We have had lots of twin booms such as Boomerang Nano, Boomerang Exige/Tazor, Xcalibur, Tornado/Kestrel/Falcon, IAD Serpent etc; several deltas such as Reaper, Grumania Eurofighter, Avonds Rafale; quite a few scale models such a F-16s, F-86, F-80/T-33 but very little in the way of conventional sports models.
The nearest thing might be a X-tremejets Viperjet but I haven't seen any build/flying reports on that with a 54 size turbine and I promised myself that I wouldn't be a guinea pig any more .
Maybe I'll just wear my Nano out a bit more and see if anything else comes along .

I'm hoping the new Shane Harding Razor 90 will make a good conversion to turbine. Just can't seem to find any info on it. Got the turbinator plans, but it think I might build an 83% version as it will suit my Wren 54 better.
There is a massive gap in the market for affordable sport jets.

I had a Jetco XL from them and it is a VERY basic kit and took a lot of hard work to get it together. virtually nothing in the way of instructions, and they were in German and had to do a lot by trial and error, worked out expensive in the end.

I just picked up a Cermark F-16 with a P-60, and it really is a nice jet. I think Hobby King is marketing these , as Cermark does not anymore. I know Curtis, at Easy Tiger has a complete airframe for sale.....he was going to develope the kit for his business, but did not move forward on it. He wants to sell it....these jets fly great, and the P-60 is perfect, somI think the Wren would work well.

Hello:
I think EXM mini from Joao Matos RC is a excellent option for your turbine.
It's a cheap model and is a great flyer.
Regards from Spain.

The eScorpion is a perfect candidate for the P-60.
I am building one right now.

Thanks for the suggestions guys; it looks like there might be some good models out there that I hadn't considered.
I wouldn't touch a EXM Mini with a barge pole but I've said enough about that on the EXM Mini thread so no need for me to bash it again here!
I do have a Cermark F-16 about 95% ready to fly but it currently has a Wren Supersport sitting in it. I could do some swapping around of engines if need be to free up the Supersport for something else instead.
The 2 listed so far that appeal to me are the Tuono Easy and the e-Scorpion. I would be grateful for any info that people might have on either of these, when fitted with turbines.
Oli, are you going to do a build thread on the e-Scorpion? I did see that some info was posted before. I was actually looking at this model last week but thought it might be better suited to Wren 44 than Wren 54 or P-60 (not least because the Aviation Design fuel tank looks quite small). It be very interested to hear how you get on with the P-60.
