Steering design needed a redesign and it was an easy fix. I Hope to have these in production soon for those wishing to improve their jets with more steering resolution and mechanical advantage. Material is 6061T6.

Dad didn't like the tight clamp I located the servo wire with so we changed to a clamp with a larger hole to prevent the wire from work hardening. Small Robart air tank fitted for chute system. I didn't have the SM tanks but a bit of fuel line took care of the fit. Hot glue to fix them in place. Nose gear doors hooked up. I'm gonna sequence with a button valve.

Thanks in advance

No maiden yet. It seemed that not many were interested in my thread so I quit posting. I had some life interruptions to my build as well.
I split the accessory bays earler and the latest update, I now have them hinged properly so they can be opened in a scale fashion. Also installed a locking wire. Additionally I removed the canopy air valve because it leaked. Skymaster tried to take care of me by sending me a free replacment but it leaked too. Real 104's never had a powered canopy so I decided to eliminate the air system. I wanted the ability to close the canopy by hand and then lock it from the TX. I'm now installing a small servo in the nose with a small wire to actuate the factory canopy lock. All of this will allow me to keep all access panels attached to the airplane during pre/post flight servicing. I will be gluing the canopys in next and completing the empennage to an airworthy status.

The pilot I had made is totally wrong. I don't know why this 1/4 scale pilot looks so small in this 1/5 airplane. My plan is now to have taylored pilots make one to specific dimensions to get the proper fit to the airplane. Really frustrating but one of the pics shows an actual pilot in the airplane. The 104 has a small cockpit so the pilot should really fill up the space to be right.

Super news about your maiden. You know guys are using 100mm from leading edge for CG now with pleasant results. This is where I'm setting mine.

Another issue I ran into was the wing bolt holes not aligned with the wing. See pic.

I'm going to use a metal coating process. The tip tanks were done as a test and they are acceptable. I want my airplane to have an extremely high polish look like these birds did. The last pic shows my tip tanks.

I was aware about the cg. The tip tank looks fantastic. How much weight you believe this process will add?

Jjp,

Where will you attach the chute wire to fuselage?

Are you sending it to them, or do they have DIY kits?

I sent the tips to him but now there is a shop in OK that can do them. Added 2oz per tip so not much.

Jason, how is your F-104 coming? I just maidened mine. I had the igyro turned off for the maiden flight. I'll fly with the igyro turned on for the next flight and let you know how the plane responded. I put the plane through a basic aerobatic routine for the maiden and there were no bad tendencies.
