The jetfan 90 on 12s puts out 12lbs of thrust drawing 100amps, that is with over 100%fsa inlet and 80% exit. With a 5000mah pack, its good for 4 minutes of flying, and that is with power at 2/3-3/4 90% of the time.

That's with an intake ring on a bench though right? My 100mm Sapac fan(cut down dynamax)with Scorpion gets 13lbs on the bench at 108 amps but only about 9.5-10 installed. Still pushed my 14.5lb Blaze to 176mph. That fan would probably be great in this thing.

Awesome information guys! I appreciate it a lot.

As I was coming home from work, I was thinking how awesome it would be to get some of these fans into our wind tunnel and do some testing at higher air speeds. Try them out with intakes and thrust tubes on them to optimize design and performance of a set up. We have a closed loop wind tunnel that I believe can do between 120-150mph, with I believe an 18" x 24" x 36" testing area.

Well come on, that is different than a plane with 2 foot long intake ducting and no rounded intake. the Horten probably gives the same numbers as a bench run.

Hi,

This is the last one of these I built from a kit. I had some issues with the maiden because I just didn't want to listen to CG recommendations from....well.....nevermind. A hard head makes a sore ass, right?

Anyway, it's got a Dynamax Lite on 11s. Takes off in about 200' and I was pretty happy with the landing speed. The batteries used about 3050 miliamps in that flight (with mixed throttle).

I would rather have his with none of this stuff because his is so easy to fly and so much fun. Hes at around 14 lbs ready to fly. Mine close to 17 lbs.

I don't really know what fan is best. Does Stu still make fans? How about the Jetfans? I will ask around to some good friends.

The bigger fans will fly it just fine BTW. But you taking on extra weight with no extra performance. My BVM EVF would put out 19LBS of thrust on bench. Puts out 16 pounds installed in the electra. But only out out 12 pounds installed the F16.
Gunradd - any thoughts on how the 90mm hst fan would fly it on 12s? Also - ducting wouldn't be needed with this fan. I'm installing one in a jtm viper jet at the moment but have always wanted a yellow f-16.

Shaun I talked to my friend he said he used a Tam inlet. He also said a 100mm fan would be ideal for this plane. All you can get through the inlet is 100mm of air so a 100mm fan is perfect. I also think Tams inlet is for 100mm.

Not sure what fan to use. I think Tam has a 100 fan made with a cut down dynamax rotor. That would sound killer and fly great with no extra weight and plenty of power. Not sure about Stu. When he gets busy at his full time job he kinda disappears from the hobby and it can be hard waiting for him. But his fans are top notch.

Shaun how is that F16 doing? Is it still flying good? It was a good build O and I told you so lol.

Tulz I think it would fly the plane great. But I would be scared of sucking in rocks through the main gear and nose gear holes. Might want to install at least a partial inlet. I know Daniel hates inlets being used on his HST fans but one rock through the fan and its going back to get fixed.

Im with Tumbler. I have the Sapac 100mm fan in my Tam f-16, which is a little bigger and much heavier (mine is just over 19pounds) than what the typical yellow f-16 seems to weigh...and it flies it well. Check with Tam for 100mm dynamax fans or with Larry at southeast model products, who I think made the fans for Sapac.

Beuifully sheeted foam core wings and stabs.....you do the leading an trainling edges, and tips. The fuselage is green polyester with the most difficult formers already glued in place. Hardware is top notch. Building it reminds me of building an old generation F-16C, or a P-47.
No instruction manual, but all the ino you need is on a 11x17 diagram.

Is there still access to non US promotioned FunKey products? I know Singapore hobbies used to carry a lot of goodies that never made it to the US.

Shaun, on a slightly related note, I have been combing the forums for just such a service for one of your F-15C's. Can you provide more detail on what it takes to commission your services? I have seen your work and love the opportunity...

Ancel.
