Ok, this is for us old timers only.

Can you find your first radio here?

One of the most interesting RC sites I have seen.

My first radio was the fully proportional two channel Cox/Sanwa radio that came with the "QT" trainer, bought from the JC Penney catalog in 1977. LOL
I later progressed to a 3 channel EK Logictrol, followed by the 4 channel EK Logictrol "Nimbus Sport" radio.

None of those are listed on that site.

Found my first Two. The four channel digitiro I bought used in 73 and the five channel Kraft my parents bought me when it failed six weeks later. Woketman had one so we thought it was a better option than fixing the other one after it failed and caused my first plane to crash with me never getting to fly it myself.

My first radio is there. A tower 4 channel with no servo reverse. I just turned 50 last week and I was feeling a little old. Thanks for confirming. .

Red face

Found mine. Hobby Lobby 5. Bought in 1974, still have it. Put it in a kit bashed Hot Line Sierra Trainer w/Fox Eagle 60. Airplane flew great Radio failed. Sent radio back. Defective Tx crystal according to Hobby Lobby. Got it back put it in a Falcon 56, never had another issue with it. Have a NIB kit, NIB Fox Eagle 60, and the radio. Thinking about converting Radio to 2.4 and putting it in the Sierra w/fox Eagle, and flying the combo again. Only need a nine day week and 5 weekends every month to get it done !!!

I found mine. I was 15 years old and couldn't swing 400 bucks for a Kraft, but there was a company called PCS that supposedly made the "same thing" for 300, so I bought it instead. It actually worked well in my Dubro Aero Commander and later, in my Lanier Capri.

Anyone have any pics..??

What a collection. I found a pic like my old World Engines Blue Max 4 channel built from a kit. I still have it and I'm pretty sure it still works too. I had forgotten how much it cost for that '71 X-Mas present.
Proportional control, man was that sweet compared to a box with 8 momentary contact buttons that I tried before.
No servo reversing either. A reverse servo was available though.
I don't think anyone would have even dreamed about the goodies available now.
I still overlook some of the newer radio functions.

Let's see if this works..http://www.rchalloffame.org/Manufact...1004-full.html.

I had a Blue Max (black case) 4 channel...
Got it, and a partially built Falcon 56 (and an extra wing kit) for $125.00 in 1974...learned how to reverse a servo by switching 2 wires on the pot and motor..

yup! holy cow, 1968 Kraft Proportional (with big ol' ugly OPEN Gimbals) .... my Dad referred to it as the 'Iron Box'

I STILL don't get how my mother let him spend $450.00 (almost $3000 today) for a radio.
God Bless Her.

Did not spot my Controlaire 10 channel reed set , or my first controlaire mule version, but the Digitro (proportional), and the later Digiquad were there. I still have have a couple of Logitrols, 4 or 5 World Expert (single and dual stick), a NIB Kraft sport, and about 4 Futaba's older than 10 years .

Isn't it interesting how that price works out in today's dollars? I wonder if that's how Futaba came up with the price for the 18MZ!

Logictrol 5 was my first radio. Had it in a Debolt Jenny with a Enya 45. Did not see one in the photo.

Yep, they have my 1972 Heathkit listed. Brings back memories of solder fumes and burnt fingers, but proudly made in America.

Heathkit! Yes, I built my own. Mine was the single stick with the rotary knob on the end of the stick and a slider throttle on the side. Think Heathkit design was licensed from Kraft. Parents bought the kit for me for my 12th birthday.

Consider the ghosts stirred....

Bottom right-center, the blue Venus Tone Transmitter. Yep, non-proportional, single channel. I had a high wing trainer with an .049 engine.
