We had both ( sprint flying yet ), ran with p70,p80se, p120se and wren54ss, sprint allwood constrution, elan fuse and booms in fiber, sprint has an sweet flight, but elan is more assertive.
elan is an better choice after an 800 flights each one!!

The Elan arrived yesterday.
Unpacking and looking things over, will have a questions, like are the flaps interchangeable,
I notice they don't go up all the way, thought that was fixed long ago?
They're very close, maybe it doesn't really matter?
Should I mount the engine as far to the rear as possible, I notice in the build threads that they tend to be nose heavy.
Looks good, will have lots of questions I'm sure.

I'm installing a 125oz Sullivan fuel tank.
It's a long ways from the bung opening to the top of the tank.
Can I drill and tap a hole near the top for the vent, otherwise it's finagle a line up there for a vent line?
Has anyone done this, is it a problem sealing the hole to prevent leaks?
Don't think much will stick to that plastic.

What I did was just make the brass vent line in the normal location as long as possible and still be able to get the assembly in as close to the top as I could. Then I used a piece of tygon, maybe 2-3" long to continue the line to the very top. That finished out the vent. You are correct. Hardly anything will stick to that plastic.

Turbine battery is between the tank and turbine and the receiver packs are under the tank as far back as possible. This will help get the cg back ar enough.
Enjoy the build , it's a fun airplane to put together.

The TL struts will arrive Tues, then I can start arranging components and checking the CG.
It is a fun build, now if winter will end, still below zero every night, way below average for this time of year.
I'm thinking warm thoughts,
