Satdave, you will totally enjoy the way this plane flies. Got 6 flights on mine, and it is a great model to fly from a short field.

CofG 250mm back to start

Throws
20mm aileron

25mm elev
max rudder
80deg flap

My airtanks are located under the tank tray. The original wing bolts are 4mm and are tightened through the wheel bay. I changed mine to 6mm threaded bar, then tightened with a thumb nut from inside the plane. My ECU battery 4200mah 9v life and two 2500mah 6v 123's are placed in the nose.

Smitty,
I guess that might of been some of the hold up in Chicago......... Your right if that was a wooden crate would have been an entirely different story.

Default Aurora

I went with Breitling, no stars. P-180 and Power Box. My wife is happy that it made it home without damage. If she only knew how much I spent...............

The Breitling scheme was our first demonstration model and is still my favourite. Now I have the carbon one back from 2014 demonstration I'll be flying it as my sports model. The promotion of the Aurora is all done now and it's great to see the continuing success of the model.

Looking forward to moving on to the Swift which I fully believe will be an even greater success as it will be coming from a proven pedigree which is QComposites.

There is always a debate on whether the hard case is necessary. I guess this proves our decision..

Always good to see a spouse happily involved in this hobby..
I welcome her also to the Aurora family.

Smitty,

Any input on a template from the factory for the nose gear cut out? Is it generic or gear specific. I hate cutting this plane.......

Look at the two pics I've attached. one shows a piece of cardboard that i made up as a template.

I did this by placing the retract unit on top of a piece of card board then drawing the shape onto the cardboard below. I knew the shape would be right by doing this. Then i needed to place the template in just the right place at the bottom of the plane to get the cutout in the correct position.
I did this by placing the template inside the plane and using the retract former and the center mold line to get it into the correct location, then taped it into position inside. I then drilled two small holes through the center line if the cardboard and through the plane. I then placed the template outside of the plane and put two screws through the hole in the template and through the hole i drilled in the plane. this positioned the template the the right place on the outside. Then i taped it again into position and marked it out and then cut using a dremel.

Good morning Satdave..

I've enclosed a link to a build pictorial.

The gear featured is from airtech.de. That's the gear we sell from the factory..
