Default Ali Machinchy and Al's Hobbies ( Jet Centre ) Announcement

Hi Guys. I know that I don't frequent here as much as I used to. There are many reasons for that. Some of which I hope will change, and I can get back to posting on here again. We will see! However. In the meantime! There has been a really big change in my life, and whilst I have not been wanting to come on here bragging about it. There has been much talk about how it will effect the business aspect of my retail store, and especially the jet centre. So I thought a short announcement might be in order to clear things up.

This February just gone. I was offered and accepted a job that will see myself and my immediate family moving to the USA and starting a dream role at Horizon Hobby. I am not sure exactly when this move will happen permanently, as this depends greatly on the INS ( Immigration and work visa process) I will start the transition this coming April. My new role will be very similar in some aspects to what I do now, just more centred on events within the USA. There are other responsibilities that will see me move away from the retail aspect of the hobby, which... if I am honest. I am most excited about. When I say move away, I do not mean disappear completely.

Al's Hobbies and the Al's Hobbies Jet Centre are still going to continue to do business. I have been very lucky in my life, and one of the areas that this is most so is with my family and friends and the support that they offer me. My mother and father will continue to operate the stores that make up the Al's Hobbies group. My close friends and my best ever employees. Simon and Stevo Taylor will continue to operate the Jet Centre. This is a role that they have pretty much been doing without my direct supervision for the past few years. I have been there to assist them, or customers with specific or more detailed questions on specialised areas. That can and will continue in my new position. As I can be reached via email and answer these around my new responsibilities. I am actually hoping that by removing the single biggest draw from the companies resources ( Me ) Al's Hobbies and the Jet Centre will actually continue to grow.

Thankyou to all those that are reading this that have shopped with us over the years. It has been an experience for sure! I look forward to meeting more of you on my travels, and I know that the team at Al's Hobbies look forward to serving you!
Regards Al

Congratulations Ali!

It's always great when you have an opportunity to get your "dream" job, HH is fortunate to get you full-time.

See you at the next event.

Well don Ali. All the best for the future. Certainly the UK's loss is the US's gain.

The shows around the UK will not be the same without you. Unless of course you might slip back across the pond to attend the odd one or two

Thanks for the kind words guys. I am not sure what my plans are to be honest Tim. Right now I am actually looking forward to reducing the number of international events that I do. There are plenty of great pilots in the Uk that are super eager to fill the gap that I will leave, so I am sure the events will do just great without me. I myself am going to miss some of them, and the people that I have befriended through such events.. I won't miss the drama!

Congratulations Ali! A big gain for Horizon Hobby and the USA. You are a class act, as well as an expert pilot, and always willing to help others (including myself). You are officially invited to attend the Georgia Jets Jet Event this year (Sept 25-28). Looking forward to seeing you there and other events in the future.

Hi Al, and thanks for posting, that will stop the gossipers and mongers around here. You have always been a great ambassador for the sport, approachable, courteous and free to give advice to all. Great qualities in a man. I wish you well and hope that your move is a big success,if you only come back once a year make sure it is for Jetpower! Cheers.

Good luck Ali. I honestly think that this be great for both you and Al's Hobbies. Your (understandable) international exploits have meant that getting in touch with 'the face' of Al's Hobbies was getting more and more difficult as time went by. By breaking the tie I think that both you and the Jet Centre will benefit. I hope things go well for you in the states and best of luck to those that will continue to run the Jet Centre in the future.

Congratulations Ali on the job opportunity and upcoming move. Besides the hobby/employment aspect, no doubt a lot of thought and discussion went into it with your family. I hope they are equally as excited about the change and opportunities living in the US may present. Good luck to you and your family in the coming months and I look forward to our paths crossing this summer!

Best of luck to you and your family on the upcoming move. You have been a good friend to me although I think I may have fallen out of favor with you since you have found your own supplier of "Monkey Butt Powder".
If you ever need a driver, I can hook you up with one as long as it doesn't interfere with his other driving duties.

Congratulations Ali! Even being a pilot of your caliber with all the people that want your help I've always been impressed by the way you will go out of your way to help at the field and give great advice here on RCU (me included) I've been a long time Horizon Hobbies customer and hold them as one of the very best I've done business with so adding you to there team is icing on the cake.
I welcome you to the United States and hope your process to stay is painless..... I also hope you consider becoming a U.S. Citizen that way we can claim the best R/C Jet Pilot in the world

I look forward to meeting you at best of the west this year if you attend
keep up the great work!

Congratulations Ali. You are a life proof of a great nation attracting great talents. Horizon Hobby has made a great decision. May best success to both parties.

Al

Many congratulations. We shall miss you as we go into your shop. However the UK is no place for anyone with real talent and a young familly. 57% of the population on the government payrol means there is little future for anyone in civvy street. One and half free loaders living off everything you do and worse telling you how to do it, just does not add up.

Wishing you every good fortune,

Regards

Henry

Ali! Congratulations on your new position with Horizon. I watched you at FJ, and you and Steve S, are truly two of the Best Jet r/c pilots that I have ever seen fly.

It was a dream job Tim when the sales represented the amount of effort that was put into helping people. More and more ( especially in the UK ) it became the case where I did the promo work, or helping establish a product. Only for the end customer to go direct to save ( or think they are saving ) a few £'s. This is always going to happen I know, but towards the end it was getting so common place that people were even looking to me to support such products! The Uk market seems to have gone its own direction, in that the end users only seemed concerned with where they can source the products for their hobby at the cheapest price. Forget service, forget quality, forget backup, forget if it is ethically provided. Not a good place to be in my dream job and spending on that type of clientele. I got very, very lucky in that Horizon value what I do. I have parents that support my decision and a family that is with me all the way. Henry RG sums it up.

Thankyou very much for the kinds words guys. I really appreciate your kind words and support.

Regards Al
