Yes similar to that but for a nose gear that can steer. I might be able to modify one of those to work. Still looking.

http://www.carf-models.com/public_ca...eretracts.html

Darrel from Sierra giant has made this, basically when the gear opens it extends the length and when it retracts it shortens. I have them on my carf p-47, nice set of gear.

Carf A4 kit gear has it. It's in the description on this page:

http://www.carf-models.com/public_ca...ndinggear.html

caution though, I recall reading somewhere that these things have a functional problem but it might be something u can work with.

How big? Could you modify a fw 190 tailwheel? A longer cylinder throw would get you more vertical travel. Look at sierras. It may give a basis for something to be modified or scaled up.

No, I haven't seen those. That looks interesting because I still haven't resolved my A4 nose gear issue.

Actually I'm looking for one for an F98 nose gear. It goes straight up and down.

This is a good idea too! The wheels (it's a double wheel setup) need to be around 3.5" dia. for the F89 nose gear setup.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I just spoke to Darrel Tenny the owner with Sierra. He's going to work with me to come up with a design. Since they already have tail wheels that work in this fashion it shouldn't be to hard to make one work.

He has also offered to look at the A4 nose gear issue again. Apparently he was in consultation with Comp ARF on this years ago but Comp ARF went another direction.

Thanks again for all of the replies.

Andy
