come on guys...I am sure you can make a better one than this for under a grand....
60 Grand for that? is this an April fools joke, or is there some FOOL that would actually pay 60.000 for it
I'll give him all the credit for his craftsmanship, but 60.000???

You might want to go to the Hammacher Schlemmer website before you dismiss this as an April fools joke.

I saw both the Bat plane and the Dragon at Toledo. The photos and videos don't do them justice. Being able to see them up close and personal is a treat. BTW, unless there were deleted comments, I don't think anyone was bashing the designer/builder Rick Hammell. I believe that it was the intelligence of the marketing of Hammacher Schlemmer that was being bashed. Is it a publicity/marketing ploy? Sure. Is it priced into the stratosphere so that only the wealthy (and hopefully intelligent) can afford it? Probably. I agree though that this is no different than if they had advertised any other turbine powered aircraft in their magazine/site. The risks and liabilities are the same, and hopefully both Hammacher and the buyer do their due diligence before any flight attempts.

My $.02

I did, and was tempted to call them. That's why I think it's real, and I will know tomorrow when it is still on their site. It's impressive either way.

The only thing I bashed was the thought of someone laying out 60 grand for a model, not bashing the craftsmanship. Hammacher Schlemmer what are they famous for? I know I've heard that name but not in the world of RC

I know that it has flown but the fire breathing part and the price is a little over the top...

Most of the people joining RC now are the "general public" and buy big expensive models to fly that are way above their skill level. You don't have to have skills to fly RC anymore, just a little programming ability.

Default Mythical Beast

Hammacher Schlemmer Contacted me after seeing it on this sight. They insisted on picturing it with the fire- (that's a story in it self) I agreed to produce a non fire breathing model for some one that was interested. Already had some lady that wanted it for chasing her neighbor off when they came on her property--I'm not kidding. So far- most people have no idea what it is!!! The catalog wants to put the dragon in their show room in Manhattan on 57th ave--not sure about that adventure! At this point- the dragon has evolved slightly from the original version--the head no longer needs to turn to assist the rudders although I still want it for ground effect--went to a full flying "V" tail system which dramatically increases control in a turn--9 flights so far--working on smoke out of it's nose---I've also been working with Real Flight-- they are working on a simulation--hope they can make it breath fire-- and then there's the next --"Back" project--will be testing this summer.---As always --Thanks Voy!! I'll keep you updated but don't spill the beans! PS did I mention it will require a jetcat P-300

Guys spend more money than that on JWM jets. Why not on a dragon. It's not my kinda thing but I can see someone paying that much for a one of a kind collectors item.

Money gets spent on some strange stuff--I'm always amazed at some of the strange art that sells for millions!!
