Engine and Pipe installation. Engine rails do not line up with intake if using a zero offset engine. Rail's modified to let engine sit 6mm lower. Hatch opening is pretty small for such a big fuse, it will not allow engines of +117mm dia, not without widening opening anyway.
Nose gear Retract and Gear Door valves, Again each retract has its own Xicoy V2s valve. Another V2s valve is common for all door cylinders.
Main Servo tray layout, not complete.

Phil, when was this jet built? From the looks of the one picture of you adding a ply bulkhead to the old one makes me think it may be wise to x-ray your wings and elevators if possible. You may have a jet with no ply in the wings just carbon/honeycomb, and dont let the ply servo boxes fool you run a borescope in if you cannot x-ray them. I have the Robbe system in my twin turbine and will use it in every jet from now on, its a really nice system which gives you the best possible stuff for Sbus.

Not sure when it was built but I have used my borescope down the wings. There is both ply and honeycomb/Carbon, on 2 carbon fiber main spar assemblies, construction looks pretty good inside, I need to cut another hole in the fwd part of the root rib to gain more access. I did find a block of balsa in one panel which was of no use or benefit at all. ?????
Tomorrow the plan is to load each panel at MAC with 25kg bags of pool salt.

Yeah the Robbe 2018 is the only way to go

Cool deal, well good luck on your project I have been hanging around RCU these days just to see builds not many anymore due to the atmosphere. Not sure why but emcotec has put there name on the same powersystem now. its exactly the same as the Robbe one from what I can tell.

I think you may even find that Robbe put their name on the Emcotec. Exactly the same units bar the labelling. The Robbe system can be used with JR/Spektrum receivers, just like emcotec.

I believe the Robbe had their backer for awhile now, I never saw one from Emcotec until very recent.

I dont know for sure, I just assumed emcotec was first as they are an independent company not affiliated with anyone, I would not have thought Robbe/Futaba would have designed a unit to cater for JR/Spektrum use.

Yes its getting close, still need to finalize wiring and add an extra fuel tank. I think I measured 4.3L as standard so another tank will be fitted on top of the main tank to get it over 5L.

What happened to your T33?
I built the SM T33 and reveiwed it for RCJet Internstional. That was a nice model.

Nice to see some testing being done at last by someone..not that difficult to do! I wonder though if you have been rigorous enough though. This looks like a BIG plane and I suppose its weight wet will be 25Kg plus? at 7 g that would be a total of 175 Kg with 87.5 Kg each side assuming most of the lift comes from the wing. I guess in the negative direction you would only need 3 g or 37.5 Kg each side. It takes a brave man to test to these weights. You also have to look at the strength of the tube to take the point load the way you have done it. You are a big step ahead of most though even at the weights you loaded to. I know there are those that like to pull huge G loads by making snap 90 degree climbs this might just make them consider whether it is sensible to overload the airframe.

Thanks John, I did think about what you have said but felt uncomfortable to load the entire wing without proper distribution of test weight. Thats why I compensated a little with time. Also to test as a complete flying state airframe would mean I would have to tresle the fuse a little better to share the load evenly. I will see what time I have before the test flight for more testing.

Maryborough is definately on my dance card, I just need to see if it coincides with my rotation roster. You would be suprised how much you still miss out on working only 4 weeks in 10.

Installation is complete, CofG needs to be calculated and set. On the ground Bone dry it will balance on its mains with not much effort to sit on the tail. I initially thought it may be tail heavy but given the location of the main gear, the two wont be far apart. I wasn't planning on using the supplied cockpit detail but didn't get around to tinting the canopy, so the detail is the next best thing.
The wing and tail-plane fit is good, better than the fuselage joins which are not all that bad just a bit busy around the rear of the canopy.

The gear setup using individual valves per retract works great, I think probably too great, well on the test stand anyway. The rest of the build is pretty straight forward with no major problems encountered. It definitely builds fast, I think it took me 2 long nights this trip home and another 2 a few weeks ago.

Test flight this week sometime, Hopefully.

Final dry weight (Header tank full) is 21kg flat. It required an additional 200g (or 2 x lead sinkers) up front to get the CofG to the required 250mm from root leading edge.
It typically builds tail heavy and without the 10,000mAh of LiPo batteries up front and 500ml of header tank behind the nose wheel opening, the balance weight required would be pretty hefty.....so as normal, plan your build and fit out.

With the engine run done, the ducks ass was the only area of the fuse to get warm but to see the back end of the supplied kit you will see a fairly small exhaust opening, once this is cut away, temps are much better, not to mention looks way better.

Another mod was the canopy latch, the first photo shows it only protrudes by a few mm, the easy fix here is to unscrew the actuating pin, remove the main slide shaft and turn it 180 degrees and reinstall. Put the other bits back together and trim the canopy end down to clear the exit hole when retracted and your done. Photos show before and after.

So that's it, next post should be the test flight, hoping to get it done this week sometime.
