Carf paint hardener
#2
You should not have a problem doing this. I have mixed my own colour from Skymaster paints I had and used a 2 pack harder bought locally to paint a repair on a Carf model. Just make sure the reducer is a 2 pack also. Do not use a normal thinners use this to wash the gun out.

General rule of thumb is 2 to 1. Mix reducer to suit. This would be two parts paint, one part harder, and reducer to suit. Don't forget a good quality mask. Breathing 2k is not a good idea.

Sorry Mike you beat me to it. As I said this is generally a rule of thumb but following the recommended instructions is always advisable.

BTW, the correct mixing for CARF paints is 4:1 paint to hardener. You can go lower, for better durability of the resulting finish, but just be sure you are ready to paint it, because it hardens FAST - especially if you go lower than 4:1.

Carf paints are only worth buying if you have a Carf model and want the colour paint to match your model. If you are starting from scratch just go to your local automotive paint supplies and buy from there it's a lot cheaper. You will also have a choice from buying 2K, Acrylic, Enamel.

I also noticed the on the CARF web site it tells you to use automotive thinners. This stuff is crap to use with 2K paints. Automotive Thinners is good when you use the appropriate stuff for Acrylic,Enamel and washing your spray gun out with but for 2K the only thing you should be using is a 2K thinners more commonly called 2K reducer.
Also when buying Hardener you can get it in slow, medium, and fast cure. I personally prefer a slow cure to give me the extra time while painting.
