Here are pictures of my actual gear. In the one pic that is an 18" metal ruler.

But in such small quantities there is no way that you will be able to make them for significant savings. I dont think most people truly understand how massive a set of 1/6th scale A-6 gear really are, they are HUGE! I am eager to see yours though.
Ian, I understand your point but maybe you will be surprised, anyway we will not know the price before 2016 though, now the picture bellow is for the T50 landing gear, look at the complexity of it, they are working on it now for 105" scale T50, it will be ready beginning of the next year then I can tell you the price of it.

Thomas let me bring you up to speed, first the A6 is the last one on a list of the 4 jets to be produced, 105" Vixen is due next month, 105" T50 beginning of 2015, 110" F84F will debut at Jetpower then comes the 110" A6 according to the factory it is for beginning of 2016.

FYI the models are sold out for this year only left 1 viper and 1 hawk, we have orders to deliver in march of next year already, so publicity is not an issue.

Fender, if I were to buy those gear now I bet they would cost even more than what I paid for them. The gear are gorgeous though, very well done by John.
It was over seven years ago that I bought a set and cannot remember what I paid, but I think it was around $3K(?). The sad part, I actually never got to "see & hold" them as they went directly to Ronnie York for the build.

Those look like plain old F-16 gear to me. Been done many times and mass produced like crazy and most places charge $1200-$1500 for those. If you hit that price for the A-6 gear then you will have something but I think you will be more realistically in the range of about $2000 for the whole gear set.

Let me show you the differences, the left picture is the T50 and the right picture is the F16, for me they are very different, T50 has 2 shocks absorbers the F16 only one, the T50 looks a little more elaborated than the F16 take a look and tell me what do you think.

Ahh, I see now. Well we should compare apples to apples instead of scale gear to model gear.

Yes, it looks like there is one extra cylinder on the T-50. Very similar gear though. Looks like the geometry is the same though so most of the engineering is done for you guys.

It is simple the KAI T50 was designed in USA by Lockheed Martin and build in South Korea by KAI ( Korean Air Industries) actually Lockheed Martin is partner in the T50 project thus the similarity between them,

look at the T50 it resembles the F16 in design. There is a lot of difference though but still looks like.

Last year the company surveyed the market, it was very extensive and clever questions on that, I do not know if you have participated on that but attached to the survey there was a sweepstakes and they gave away a Viper air-frame the winner was David Jackson, but answer your question the KAI T50 was first place followed by the PAC FA T50 and then followed by T45 and others in sequence. So based on the data received for the survey, that was done worldwide, they decided to go ahead with the T50 project. According to Niki in another thread it will be a another survey next year.

I have to admit, it would be cool to see a giant-scale A-6. Hope it comes to market (back in the 80's, the easiest way to own an A-6 was to buy and acre of land in Dare County, NC and wait...but I digress.)

Now, if someone really wants to do it right, they need to make an A-6 version that has green rotating beacons and a refueling hose. Then one of the bubbas that has an F-14 could add a functional refueling probe. The two could do a fly-by with the Tomcat 'tanking' off of the Intruder...after all, the first mission of an attack-jet is to give gas to a fighter.

There was a period where there were more takeoffs than landings logged...but, in fairness, the Tomcat community had a rough patch in there, too. SecNav Lehman even went so far as to call a safety stand down, and came to Oceana to talk to us about it.

Wagner,
you should tell them to make an EA6B version as well. There are a pretty significant amount of changes, but the basic fuselage is pretty similar.
