Default Speed jets under 3k

Hey guys I had a great day yesterday finally flew my Car Eurosport with kingtec 140 and it was a blast not as fast az I thought it would be but the guy I got it from said he put a gps in it and that it dose around 180mph.

So some may know I crashed my sweet CAI Razor early this year so im looking for something fast to add to my fleet

So im looking for a sweet fast jet for either my p80 or p120 off of grass

The New*X-Treme ARTF*G2*Dragon*F-3A Sport Jet sexy but looks big may not go so fast with p12

http://www.skymasterjet.com/dragon.htm

Gryphon 2M Sports Jet
http://www.globaljetclub.com/index.p...roduct_id=2317

But the paint scheme dont really do it for me and the fuel tank size a little small

Wow I just checked Carf site and I didn't think I would find anything I could afford but they have a Flash that is in my range. But they say its not really built for speed?

I never looked becouse they allways look kike big $ used on this site

So I know you guys have been doing this longer than me so I know there has to be more options under 3k. I lovetbe Carf and BVM but there just so far out of my $ range

Thanks for any suggestions please post links.

Thanks Mike

Well if you can't afford a flash I'm wondering what you are doing with rc turbine jets, maybe go back to EDF? JTM makes a XXX its close to an electra.

Exclamation

The Eurosport is a draggy airframe and should be flown with a 160-180 if you want speed. Even the. You're limited to the aerodynamics of the airframe.

The CARF Flash is capable of high speed flight. It can handle 200 mph with no problem. Just do a search on YouTube and you'll see plenty of examples.

You're not going to find turbine jets built for speed for under $3k. High speed flying requires a well designed and manufactured kit. That costs money. Your best bet is to find a used Flash.

Ignorant arrogant post.

Mike, if you are talking 3000 for airframe and gear there are options, especially with a p120 but you'll likely need to look at the used market.
There recently have been a few cai raptors in that range, we'll over 200mph with a p120. A CARF rookie or even kangaroo will do 200 with a 120. I've seen bobcat xl's in that price range that will do 200 even with the p80. A hotspot with a 120, if you can find an aviation design exocet or starjet you'll get well over 200 with a p80. Even a bvm kingcat with a 120 will do over 200 and I have seen kingcats gonfor under 3k, I sold a very nice one for 2500 a few years back.

Yeah I agree with LGM too. There is no need to be rude to Mike. He's asking a legitimate question.

If you want a jet built for speed and is relatively cheap, get a used Flash and don't look back.

Hey Mike,

There was a really nice looking Flash in the classifieds yesterday.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=976019

I think without the turbine you'd prolly be into it for 3-3.5k ready to go… Don't know if the person would part out? But just a suggestion

Hi Mike,

I've been flying a Dragon for the last 9 months with a Merlin 140 - it flies superbly, but is not particularly quick, even with this fairly powerful turbine (I measured 15.8Kg thrust on a test bench). I estimate the maximum speed at no more than 180mph, so with a 120 the speed would be even lower.

Not built for speed?

A clubmate has one that has been radared at well over 400 km/h, fastest jet I have ever seen!

Not his but you get the picture:

Just how fast do you want to go?

John.

I had an ultra flash with a k140 in it, radar measured at 268mph into a 10mph headwind with no dive, carf are just covering their backs the jet is capable of almost anything you can throw at it

but in my opinion if your going to buy a flash or any jet and want to go fast you should buy a new one, you can buy used gear to save some cash there is usually some for sale,

I would not like to push an airframe with an unknown (to me) past it seems like too much of a liability. there are some really talented guys around who can make anything look new and if you intend to take a flash to its limit you'd better make sure its in great condition.

the revenge from ACR looks like a plane for smaller turbines that might fit the bill

The Flash can be "scary fast" with the right powerplant and a smooth flyer!

One of the local jet guys up in these parts (PaulD) use to have a Merlin 160 in his 1st gen Flash. The thing was ballistic fast, and yet still very controllable for an experienced pilot. Don't think I would recommend that combo for a 1st jet though!

The air frame was definitely put through its paces on that power plant - with no signs of trouble...

I agree 100%.

Not everyone in the hobby wants to drop $10k on a model.

Mike:

If you want some speed... I may be able to get you an old Aviation Design Starjet. They were known to push 200 on an old JPX engine putting out 10~12 Lbs. If you have a P60... it would be crazy fast. I traded one to a buddy, and I know he didn't do anything with it yet.

Then again... I have a hot spot if you want to talk about it. They will hit 200 on a K-80.

"But they say its not really built for speed?"

I sold my 6 months old ultra flash for $2100 with gears because it was too fast for my field. Very easy to put together too.

Not fast?! Heck, a Flash looks like it's doing 200 just sitting on the stand....
