I have been a BVM customer since 1989. Never once my BVM plane has come apart or the landing gear didn't work or had to call all over the world to beg to find the CG location. They have always offered some of the best and of course, the best costs more. It is difficult to understand that why some are so unhappy and bitter. Like everything of quality, It would be impossible to understand the value of it unless you try it.

I've been buying from BVM since the early 1980's. I've never had a quality issue with them. Plus, their customer service is ALWAYS excellent. So count me in on one of the very, very lucky ones. While you're at it, you may as well count their 500,000+ happy customers as very, very lucky too.

I'd say we are very lucky to have such an excellent manufacturer such as BVM. And secondly, very very lucky that he is here in the USA.

If you want it, and you can afford it, buy it. If you want it, but can't afford it, find an alternative that fits your wallet. If you don't want it, whether you can or cannot afford it, then STFU.
.
Good grief.......

Terry,
The "Jet-Metal"is very different than the old product, "Metal-Kote"..Here's what's better about it:
Jet-Metal is an easy to apply, spray-on paint that simulates real aircraft aluminum skin and is very durable. Jet-Metal is impervious to Jet A, Diesel fuel, Kerosene, gasoline, * Glo fuel, and even dirty sunscreen greasy hands. Jet-Metal can be safely cleaned with PrepSol (DuPont) or Acryli-Clean (PPG), Isopropyl alcohol and a glass cleaner like Windex.:
You don't need to handle the airplane with white gloves to prevent damaging it. It is fast drying as well.
It also simulates the look of aluminum better that Metal-Kote.
And to be sure, in deference to post #24, it is not relabled Rustoleum....

Isn't Bob Violett a fomer military man? He is right in line with the US military with the prices. I think maybe split the size of both kits and charge 100 more for each.. Good luck with that ...

Default metalic paints

These aluminum or chrome "look" paints can be quite expensive. BVM is not out of line price wise if it's good stuff. Alssa's Mirrachrome is $299 a pint, $1500bucks a gallon.

You guys would shyte a brick if you saw the cost of some of the fx paints out there. The pearl that harley Davidson uses in most of their new colors is $800 for a 4oz bottle. The high quality color shift paints are ridiculous, costing as much as $15,000 per gallon, I don't know for sure what product bvm is selling, but there is a good chance you couldn't get it cheaper elsewhere. I'm not a bvm fanboy at all, but until one starts looking at high end products, and understanding the costs, one should refrain from complaining. If you have a better solution great. Share it in your own thread. I have over $100,000 worth of raw paint product in my shop and that equates to very little actual product when you start adding in pearls, clears, candies etc.
Just saying.....

This gem , done a very long time ago , was done in the original BVM Metal Kote that was labeled " high polish aluminum "
it was done over base coat black and clear coated .
Anybody got a problem reading the copy in the reflection ?

Polished aluminum is completely different than natural. I think it all depends upon what you are trying to model or create.

We are fortunate to have yet another option. I wish Skymaster would offer such more aluminum finish options. I'm kinda tired of silver paint trying to pretend to replicate natural aluminum as BVM has done here. Very nice indeed.

This pic is of a tip tank that I'm trying to model as highly polished aluminum.
