Pricing Announced For The JR 28X

I'm curious, is there really any interest out there in this new Tx? ( I mean besides Team JR members). I get the impression from local hobby shops and my own club of 165members that no one is buying DMSS equipment. Has everyone in this market already bought an 18MZ and are you going to dump it to go back to JR? Honest questions...

Good news, that's equal to £1590 a good price, I expected it to fall in line with the 18MZ at £2,000+.
It will be interesting to see how much it will actually cost over here in the UK when its finally released .
There are plenty of guys still using the JR12 that will be pleased even though its still best part of 6-8 months away for us
Of course all new RXs will be needed but the new DMSS RXs are keener priced than the DMS2 ones were.
In the UK I have noticed a few JR 12X users have dipped there toe in the water and already have secondary DMSS set ups .

I was on JR for quite a bit with the Spektrum RF decks and most of my models are still DSM2/DSMX and I'll continue to fly those with my JR 12X. But I bought an 18MZ last fall and put my pattern ships on it and all the new stuff including the jets will be getting Futaba. I'm not up to playing with a new format and new vendors for JR here in the USA. They might be some great folks but at this point an unknown quantity and that's a chunk of change to spend on something you have no experience with and from someone you've not done business with previously.

I'm glad they finally announced the price for the 28X as I have been waiting to replace my JR 10X. Unfortunately, that price point is not going to work for me for that product. I wish they would have updated the 12X with a new high end product with competitive features at about the same price. I am disappointed as the XG14 seems like a good value for what you get, but the 28X cost almost 4 times as much.

Still using my 10x and 12x. I couldnt stomach paying again for a change up from DSM2...now to go pay almost $3K for another "temporary " system..I wish I could. I still have JR everything, I wish my 12x could do more than be a paperweight right now (DSM2)
Anyway my 10X drives the weatronic module for now and the Jeti at 1700$ is getting a try in my shop. I held off on the DX18, perhaps this new JR transmitter will draw me back, will see...

I was a die hard JR guy since I started 10+ years ago. I got a chance to try the Jeti DC-16 and simply can never go back. The features are staggering, it's easy to program (relatively...a bit of a learning curve) and the price was fantastic for what you get. I still love you JR but Jeti for me all the way now.

No no need at all for your 12X to be a paperweight. I have two 12 Xs and a 10 X all driving Weatronic tx modules and receivers and all working superbly well.
That said, they control nothing more complex than a FC Mig 29 with 2 engines, 6 sections of flap, tailerons, twin rudders, n/s steering Intake Ramps, wheel and speed brakes and brake chute, but I get by !!

You can still buy DSM2 receivers. I never sent my 12x back to get the DSMX update. And I won't for as long as I can!

I was a Spektrum user until recently when I bought the XG14, so far I love the JR familiarity (prior to the Spektrum), I have been gradually buying DMSS Rxs and selling off the DSM2/DSMX ones, this has eased the changeover costs to a reasonably manageable level, I for one cannot wait for the 28X if the XG14 is anything to go by; I love that JR feeling.

I held out on switching to 2.4Ghz for several reasons:
(1) My radio was still fairly new, and was completely reliable
(2) I wanted to be sure all the "bugs" had been worked out before I spent money on a new transmitter and a bunch of new receivers.
I waited for 2 or 3 years hoping that JR would finally "get it right" with regard to reliability, more channels, telemetry, and so on, but I kept hearing about a new "fix", a new "system", a new receiver, and software upgrades, and they were all to "fix" a new problem with their products.
By the time I was ready to go ahead and upgrade to 2.4 I tried really hard to come up with a compelling reason to stay with JR, but the minuses outweighed the pluses.
I ended up deciding on a 18MZ, and I am very happy with it.
It seems now that JR might have finally settled on a link system that works, and now they finally are coming out with a new radio that has all the features I was looking for, but for me at least (and many others I suspect), they are 2 years too late.
My 18MZ is solidly reliable, and it has all the features I was looking for (and then some). There is absolutely no logical reason for me to dump it and switch back to JR.

Jr missed a great chance at introducing themselves as JR AMERICA'S by under cutting Futaba and marketing the radio in the $1,800 to 2,000 range! If I have to spend this kind of money on the JR, my choice will be Futaba never thought I would say that! I can purchase a Futaba 18MZ right now with a proven track record. My opinion JR America's has no track record as of yet!
Sorry JR long time user two 10X's not sure number of receivers and one 12x with 14 receivers in the basement. Not to mention what came before these!

That's a ridiculous price! Add in the need for all new Rx's...I just cannot believe how crazy the manufacturers are in this hobby at times. IMO, their competition is NOT Futaba...it's Spektrum. And JETi Tx's have about all you would ever want in your hands when flying and they are well under $2k!

Well, my 10X/weatronic drives the A10 just fine. But you know that a 12X without a module cant drive any weatronic equipment. Which is why mine can only currently work with DSM2.

Doh, I've just upgraded to the XG14, and have to say I'm actually ahead selling my DSM2 gear and buying DMSS. Bought a bulk lot of r/x off a guy going to UHF so I got them pretty cheap, but if the 28x was sub $2k I might have stretched, not for $2700.
i used to pay $100 a channel 20 years ago!
thanks

FWIW In the the latest AMA magazine here in the states JR America is advertizing TX modules for use with their 11XG that will allow it to transmit on DMSS or DSMX. Not much love here for that transmitter but it indicates that JR would like to provide a path for DMSS users to still fly their DSMX/2 receivers with the same TX. I contacted them and got a negative response to the chance that the 28X would have this capability.
It is hard to justify any new equipment purchase these days from a standpoint of reliability. But if you want a new toy and can afford it this is a good one!
I wish I could remember how much I paid for my 5 channel Heathkit in 1973. It was a lot.
