Hi Dave. Like the color skeem. I have the same one which I will be putting together shortly. Can you please perhaps send me some photos of how you did your aileron connection to the servo and some pics of you insatlation of your electronics. Has anybody got some pics of what to do with the gear doors. Will appreciate any help I can get, thanks

Good day Gents,
Ok I came rightist with the pics on the ailerons, but cant believe that nobody has got pictures of what they did to the gear doors to strengthen them.
I have another question with regards to the oil operated retractable landing gear. I no that there are a few people using it and would like to no were I can get a conversion kit from air to oil and or what to do. I don't know, maybe Skymaster has a kit for this. All I need is a bit of info and advise please. I think it would be a safe option for this plane as the five blade prop is quite a price. Thank you
Have a great day
Regards
JB

My Feedback: (15)
Hey JB,
Sorry for the late reply. I removed the main landing gear doors from my plane and will perhaps reinstall later as I become more familiar with this airframe. Skymaster sent me carbon fiber cloth to reinforce the main gear doors. It was my understanding that everyone with the PC-21 would automatically receive the materials for this purpose. You might email John, or Anton to find out when you might get what is needed.
For the landing gear struts, you should have received a kit containing a syringe, a short piece of tubing and a small air tank (you need to purchase the oil from your local hobby store as it was not included with the plane). The purpose of the syringe and tubing is to allow you to inject a silicone oil into the struts. The air tank is filled with compressed air which is used to pressurize the struts. If you go to the Skymaster website you will find a video tutorial in the instruction manual section that shows how to properly prepare the retract struts for use.
The silicone oil that I used in my retract struts was purchased from the local hobby store. It is GS Racing (GSC-70028) Pure Silicone diff. Oil 10000cps.
Send me a PM with your email address, and I will send you pictures of my equipment installation. Let me know if you need any addition information.

John,
The assembly of the PC-21 is pretty straightforward. If you would refer to post#75 in this thread, Kirk provided pictures of his cockpit canopy assembly and also a picture showing the flap/hinge assembly. The only thing I can add is to suggest that you plan to install your equipment (batteries, valves, pump, ecu, etc.) In front of the main fuel tank. This will reduce the amount of weight needed to balance your model.

John, I've been offline for a week or so busy with work and such. I'll try to get some more photos in the next couple of days of the installation.
David, no maiden yet. I had an issue with the turboprop where I couldn't get it to start. I sent in and then had the same issue with a K-180. I mixed up a new batch of kero and the 180 started first attempt. Dirk and George was able to get the turboprop to start first attempt so I think I had some bad fuel. The turboprop is on it's way back to me.

No video, sorry, I am using SPT-10 and Skymaster prop 24x23,5, it's a good combination. The only problem is that I have 3 spinners from Skymaster and all the backplates is not flat or the hole is off center. So it is a unbalance I am working on too get fixed.Maybe I have too make a spinner be myself, the spinner from Skymaster has not the right size an shape anyway.

I received the turboprop yesterday and was able to get it to start on first attempt this morning. I think this pretty much confirms I had some bad kero since I ran into the same issue with the K-180 in my Viper and it started on first attempt after replacing the fuel. So, now it's time to finish the build. I need to figure out battery placement when cg'ing and set the throws. Here are a couple of photos of the install.

Yesterday I took the PC-21 to the field to run the turboprop, range test, taxi test, and maiden if everything went well. Unfortunately, the tack welds on one of the exhaust hold down straps broke during the range test so I didn't want to take a chance and maiden it like that.
I sent a message to Danny from Chief Aircraft (place where I purchased the PC-21) to see about getting the exhaust replaced under warranty but haven't heard back yet.
