1/8 F-16 W/ JetCat P-120 Anyone??
Have any of you guys run this combination? I know its overpowered but the P-120 is what I have on hand. The 1/6 and 1/6.75 are a pretty big price increase to go to.
I guess my big concern would be increase speed on landing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike

My first jet was a Tam 1/8 F-16 with a P-120. It requires tremendous power management and is fairly difficult to land because of the wing loading. You are better off selling the 120 and getting a 80N or 100N engine.

My Feedback: (38)
It depends on what airframe you have,,,dubd had a Tams,, and says the 120 was overkill, That may be because the Tams is one of the lightest airframes in this scale from what I have read, if you have say one of the OLDER all glass and wood FEJ 1/8 f-16s,, Like I Do,, well then thats another story, My airplane is a PIG when it comes to weight, they are absolutely known to be heavy,, I have a P120SX in mine, I just finished it up, have yet to fly it, is a Heavy plane,(the previous owner flew it with a JC rabbit and said it flew fine but could use more power) and everyone I talked to said that the plane will be fine with the turbine I have, we will find out in a few weeks. I can tell you this, I did a ton of research before purchasing this turbine and there are a ton of guys who flew the plane with a P-80 some said they wish they had more power, I went with the P-120 SX because it only weighs .2 lbs more than the p-80, and has way more thrust.and is roughly physically the same size. Mine fit with no problems, Once I got all my gear installed, I balanced it at 155mm and only needed to add 2 oz of weight to get it balanced on that mark.
I know that I am no expert, but I also know these jets are all about power management, and if the jet is overpowered you can reduce the output of the turbine, but you may have an issue with the residual thrust if you have an light airframe..
There are alot of videos on youtube with this size plane with multiple turbines,, here is a quick one with a 120 in it

Hope this helps

Thank you raron455. Give us a flight report if you can after the first flight. I would love to see a video of the landing speed if you ever do any video.
Thanks,
Mike

Ron, biggest issue with a 120 and 1/8 F-16 isn't throttle management, but I have seen the stabs break off a 1/8 F-16 that was pushed with the larger motor. The biggest issue is how heavy the plane feels on landing. It's a brick.
Mike, a 120 won't fly a 1/6 F-16 unless you're consider the BVM 1/6 F-16.

Are you sure the Global Jet Club F-16 is the same as the former Jetlegend one? I thought it was a different manufacturer? Maybe Mike or Jose can chime in here.
