Who is going no to buy BVM?
I'm surprised this isn't being discussed already. I assume/hope it will be someone within the hobby. Be a shame if an investor bought it and just tried to extract more profit out of it, could go downhill fast. This isn't putting money down and managing from afar, it's buy the company, move to Florida and get your hands dirty. Definitely be interesting to follow. It goes without saying the impact Bob Violett has had on the hobby, big shoes to fill for sure.

I just got an email about it and saw the update on the BVM site. I too was under the impression that Dustin would be the man to take over. I was trying to buy one of the local hobby shops I worked at for years and right at the end things getting signed and put to bed some outside unknown issues rose and ruined the deal so even when you think you done everything right and ready to go it's not a done deal until money changes hands and contracts are signed. I wish them all the best as Bob and I have known each other for decades and he served as a consultant on a huge project UAV I worked on eight years ago along with Bob Kress and Nick Ziroli at the old AAI. We designed and built a 25 lb thrust DF hovering UAV for Honeywell.

I am confident whoever buys BVM will do so because they are a fan of the product and recognize just how great it is and will uphold that standard. I also would bet Dustin remains a big part of their success as he's really made the product better and it's shows. Bob deserves to enjoy himself and retire to do whatever he likes, he built a successful company that makes what is certainly among the finest products this hobby has ever seen and they've set the standard from day one and continue to do so, his legacy and spot in R/C history is definitely assured. I don't want him to retire but that's out of selfishness, the rest of me wishes him the best and I hope to run into him at future events for sure...

It will be hard to find someone with the right balance of intellect, ego and finance. If anyone can do it BV will. That said we own and love lots of BVM products and hope the company continues.

I too wish Bob the very best with this sale..
BVM Jets is a very special company, which has flourished for many years, in a market that could only be described as “challenging”. No matter your opinion of BVM, the hobbie owes a great deal to the man, and all the people he has employed over the years.
On that subject, Bob has some pretty smart people working for him, not just Dustin. If the new owners can retain these people, I’m confident the company will continue to be a success.
Not sure what Bob will do in his retirement though?? Last time I spoke to him, all he wanted to talk about was model jets!! .

Bob didn't just engineer ingenious designs that went together well, they flew on rails (every one I've ever owned). That's amazing in itself, but where it gets so interesting to me is; why does his stuff look so good? & not just the aircraft designs, look at the schemes! If you had a dollar for every BV design/scheme copied, you'd have quite a few dollars.
I do wonder how much the Chinese competitors had to do with this decision. I would think it's very hard to compete being US based.

Hey guys, I am flattered by the support. Thank you!
While I may be the one you see with BV at the events and talk to when you have a question regarding our products, there are about 16 others that all help make this company tick. Each employee at BVM is instrumental in providing quality products and helpful service.
I am very excited to be a part of BVM and I am looking forward to the future.

I agree with everything said about Dustin... and it echos with all who work for BVM. It's very telling that a major announcement can be made and such positive things are posted in this forum (and not the usual flaming). says allot for the company and people, who have industry wide respect.
