Obviously you must go with what's right for you, I'm just telling you how mine performs. It has full factory elevator movement and the model is pitch stable in level flight.

I guess as long as it's balanced between those two extremes, it'll fly, after that, it's personal preference indeed... I do prefer a rearward CG on jets as well, makes 'm easier to land...

simply put, no. not in any way, since this gear is operated, much in the fashion of the real thing. not the classic system of retracts on most planes...

Stripping the gear for painting white. 46ml of oil removed from the leg. Layed out the brake discs in order for the photos.

Im having SM paint them for me, I didnt want to go through this after I receive the kit. If anyone who converts their gear to hydraulic could put together a parts list and maybe a diagram it would help me out a lot.

I'm also contemplating on making a forward 'stop' for the wings........ just a failsafe thing, if ever something were to happen with the actuators. don't want the wings to swing past 20°....

this is how I'd like to do it, hope the pictures make it clear...

Thanks all for the comments on the LG painting guys. I have asked Skymaster to paint mine for me too, which they are doing - saved me a job! My kit is ready and painted apparently, but they are out of stock on the gear and it is due in about 2-3 weeks.

Default first tests

hey guys,

Did the first system and taxi-tests yesterday!

found some issues, most importantly in the swing-wing electronics: for some reason these don't work everytime.... mybe an issue with battery placement, or the output from the powerbox... I'll need to check that....

the taxi-trial went perfect, gear holds up perfectly, the sound of the two turbines is unbelieveable!!! brakes work perfectle as well.. our field was very wet and soggy, but yet, even at half throttle, she accelerates véry good!!!

I'll just need to iron out the last bugs, and then she's off!!!!

Yes I concur good luck with the maiden, I'm sure it will be fine...........what could possibly go wrong? Lol

I do have one little concern having just watched your videos depicting landing gear function. When the doors open for gear deployment the main gear main doors seem to be very closely timed, if they jam the gear will not deploy. I have the outer main doors linked to the nose doors and the main long doors linked to the small long doors, so in effect only have two phases. It's very important the main outer doors open first prior to gear down, you certainly wouldn't want to land that beast with no wheels!

hey Mick,

Thx for the heads up... the gear and door sequencing is one of the issues I'm sure to look into. I'll probably replace the EV5U with individual valves, and use the sequencer in the powerbox. This allows for a more precise control of the sequence. I rigged the wheel doors on the mains to open first, rest of the main gear doors open with the nosegear doors.

What is everyone doing for a gear fail safe I'm thinking about using a power box with single channel gear output to dw sequencer which includes fm. More equipment but don't want to belly land this beast

im going to use a JC failsafe which controls the gear and the doors. dang it that reminds me I dont know why in hell I added a jettronic gear door sequencer to my order today. Dang it, double face palm.

Jc failsafe also controls canopy and lock, this is the jet central one correct?

hey Guys,

I started working on the new nose tray. I wasn't happy with the way it turned out the first time, and since I opted to remove the EV5U, I had to redo it anyway.
I made a completely new one, and I'll be moving the valves to the fuse, just inside the nose on the sides, left and right (forward from the canopy valve...)

here are the first pictures...

Hi nice looking instal and all the best with the maiden.

I might suggest making that Lipo (assuming it is a LIpo) easier to remove for charging, looks like some cable ties but might be wrong holding it in place which don't seem to be accessible from above where they are mounted - if that goes pop you might be in trouble.

Amazing looking tray setup Wim. I have noticed that all the 14's around, have owners who have all set out the nose tray really well.
