Love that second pic! How is the 140 with the external stores? Ever find yourself wishing for more?

Thnx Tulz

I have a k180 in it now and that's perfect with the stores on. Also you end up pulling the throttle back more with the bigger motor and saving some fuel.

Kris or Sean, do you think a 210 has too much residual thrust for this F-16?

It will be fine with the 210 but you will need to watch the top end speed. I think it would be enough flat and level to cause structural failure.

IMO anything that will take a 180 should just use a 210 for better fuel economy and an engine that will fit many different airframes in the future. Also another benefit is how much cooler the 210 runs witch will help the pipe last longer. But care on the top end speed needs to be considered with the 210.

What's the maximum safe speed for this F-16?

BVM has a VNE listed in the manual but I don't off hand remember what it is. I would not go over 170mph with it. Its not a fast plane. Its big and light. watched Rob Lynch 2 weeks ago with his clean thunderbirds plane with a 160 inside it and it was moving pretty fast and he put the plane through any and every maneuver you can do with it so it can take what ever you throw at it but I would keep the top speed down.

1/2 the nose strut is $240? Did BV remake the gear?

Dantley,
the published VNE is 175mph.
kris is correct about the top speed, I'd be cautious. I agree with his comments re the K210, I suspect we'll see more and more of them, even just turned down because of the fuel efficiency and cooler temps.
i assume your question about residual thrust was aimed at idle thrust? The idle thrust on the K210 is 1.4lbs (6.2N). The f-16 with the gear down does have a good amount of drag and if you add the drop tanks I see no issues with the k210 at idle or near idle.

Thanks Kris and Sean. 175 MPH is pretty damn fast with a plane of this size. Glad to hear the K210 with work with some caveats.

Hi guys,

I am on my second season with my F16. I wonder if you all have mushy feelings when you take off? I have a 140Rx in mine and it flies fine but flying right after TO has required more "up" than I usually need to hold. almost full at times just to keep it on a gentle few degree climb. Once it gets going it flies great.

My stab trim is a little below the mark on the template/skin (leading edge). My CG is on to one finger breadth aft (hat full, gear down). I am wondering if I am still a bit nose heavy or if the 140 just takes a little time.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks
Dave

Nose heavy. I am running 1/2" in front of the mark. 200 flights. Locks into a good attitude on landing. I have a p140rx in mine as well. Only time mine feels sluggish is with the smoke tanks full.

Hey guys, I will be flying my f-16 with a Pegasus HP, wonder what you guys are doing in terms of fuel tanks/smoke tanks combination. I'm thinking of one of the two smoke tanks to fuel being the peggy has a bigger appetite. Planning on flying it loaded for bear most of the time.

Do you mean 1/2" behind the mark?

Highly recommend using all 4 tanks for fuel. That gives you about 6 mins with at least 1 min of reserve

Kind of thought so, especially with the hard points full. Thank you

I watched your flight and it looked great, nailed the landing. Did you have to put in lots of up trim after take off.?

yes I am sorry. 1/2" behind the mark. I kept creeping mine back and found the aft limit about 1" behind the mark. You will know when you are close. It will begin to get very "pitch happy" on approach ( not unmanageable) when you have gone too far.

Is that balance flat and level or slightly nose down, thanks in advance!

Scott

If you live outside the US That's the deal. Kind of stinks for us inside the good O US. Maybe you have businesses outside US and could ship there?

Why is it priced in USD if its not for US? wouldn't Euros or pounds be more appropriate or are they just trying to piss off all the BVM customers?

I will say these look very nice in person and the landing gear appear capable of lots of abuse as I witnessed about 50 of the hardest landings ive ever seen on about 10 different models this last weekend.
Lights are very visible!
