Talking Controler for Retracts, doors, Brakes, Canopy

Hey geys im going to be picking up a sweat older f15 but it does not come with any air valves

Im useing a DX18 and I will use a 18 channel reciver. (AR9020 with 8X plus)

While I should have plenty of channels to program all these air valves (the canopy has 2 rams one being the lock)

Like every one I want to keep the weight down. So instead of 6 red robart valves and one xcoy break valve is there a better way?

From what I understand

1 for the retracts
2 for the gear doors _ maybe 1
2 for the canopy
1 for the brake pop up

1 for the whee brakes

Thanks for any pointers

I have 1 Xcoy retract and 1 Xcoy brake electric valves aready

I wonder if thses are lighter than the robarts with micro servos

Have you looked at an option like the Airpower sequencers?

Like this one: http://www.modellbauuk.com/airpower-...--sp-394-p.asp
The Airpower site appears to be down at the moment. I know Dreamworks RC are the distributors now, but I don't see that sequencer on Todds website.

Mike...

Make your life easy, and dump all the valves, hoses, tanks, and rams. Use the 18, and all of its features to just put a micro servo on each door.

I was just thinking about that. What size servos would you use for gear doors on a 1:9 F15?

The DX18 makes it so easy with servos. Use 18 to slow done the servos on the canopy and doors. I posted a video of my skygate hawk showing the landing gear working on the ground and in flight. I have 5 servos on the doors alone. I did use a jr match box on the doors. You can do it without a matchbox. I also use the speed control on the doors and flaps.

Ok so what servos do you use? Or I guess I should ask around how much torq dose one typicaly need?

You don't have to use electric to control the sequence with the dx18. I am using hitec 85bb 49oz torque on the front doors on my hawk.
Now on the main doors I am using jr8711 because of there size. I would think the hitec would be plenty for your application if it is the 1/9 size f-15. It is a little bit more work than the air but you don't have to worry about a leak.

I would shy away from using digital servo's on doors. If one gets stuck, the likelyhood of killing that servo and leaving that surface inoperable (and hence a gear up landing) more likely.

Just something to think about.

Rav
I had that happen on the 8711s at Kentucky jets when the main leg moved enought to bind trying to close. That cause the gear door to hang halfway. The servo did fry but it did manage to let main push back down. Next time I see that I will cycle the gear back down ASAP to save the servo.

I not sure of a high torque analog that I can use instead of the 8711s. I need the high torque to hold the doors shut.
