Removing clearcoat from scale rc jet?
OK,
Bit of an issue here, how do I remove the paint from an R/C model that has scale rivets/panel lines? This plane appears to have an automotive clear coat so citristrip has no affect on it.
Can't really sand because it will remove the scale details. What method would work well?

1) Do you want to remove just the clear coat? If so, why? Are you re-coating with new clear coat? Is it gloss coat like a sport jet or flat clear like a scale jet?
2) Are you trying to remove all of the paint or just clear coat? Since you are trying to save the detail work I assume just the clear coat.
3) Are the panel lines and rivets from the factory like a Skymaster kit, or were they scribed and then press on rivets used? Something like Pro-Mark dry transfer.
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish in the end...

I might have a couple of suggestions depending what you are trying to accomplish.

Hi
This is not an easy task. My advise is not to take neither the clear or the paint. Just scrub the plane with a steel wool,or tissue sander so that it penetrates in al panel lines.
Then repaint it again.
No other option if you want to preserve the surface detail
